29. "Them" yes, terrific movie and it holds up I think as one of the first
1950s movies about bugs getting big because of nuclear or chemical or pollution or whatever else we screw up on this planet.

5. I was going to add it,
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 08:13 PM by Minstrel Boy
both original and remake, but I decided it violated my parameters, being not a true giant bug, but a human/bug hybrid.

The original scared my silly watching it on TV as a kid. (I'm thinking of picking up the DVD.) The remake didn't do much for me.

19. I had nightmares about the spider scene when I was a kid....
Edited on Wed Oct-27-04 08:28 PM by General Zod
....I saw it again a few years ago and all I could do was laugh hysterically. I had heard that Vincent Price and Herbert Marshall kept cracking up during the filming of that scene.

21. The most disturbing thing for me
was his wife crushing his head and limb in a press, because he'd asked her to.

22. Remember, his fly hand came out from under the press...
.... and she had to reset the press to crush his hand. Your right, that was an extremely gruesome scene.

16. The Tingler
with Vincent Price...cut that thing out of that mute lady that owned the theatre.

Was that a bug? Looked like a lobster sized centepede.

Scary as hell...B&w except for the bathroom scene with the blood running from the taps.

Haunted my entire childhood.

24. I LOVE that movie. The mute woman gave me nightmares!
I don't think The Tingler was an insect, though. I thought it was a manifestation of a person's fear(s).

Vincent Price was in three of all all time favorite horror/cheese films: The Tingler, House of Wax, and House on Haunted Hill.

25. Not an insect, but as bug-like as you can get.
Vincent was in some Poe classics, too. (great man/actor)

The Raven. Pit and the Pendulum. Fall of the House of Usher. The Tell Tale Heart, etc

The mute woman was the victim, though. She got even in the end.

hehe

27. Based on a story by Guy de Maupassant
"The Horla," I think.

And I think Price starred in a film based on de Maupassant's "Diary of a Madman."

"Masque of the Red Death" is my favourite of the Poe/Corman cycle, but I love all things Price.

Fascinating. thanks

Vincent Price was a special man. I thought his turn in Edward Scissorhands was a fitting tribute to his legacy.

23. The Ticks
With that guy who played Carlson on Fresh Prince of Bel Air. The ticks were huge due to chemicals being used to make drug crops grow larger. More of a comedy than horror movie
