I showed my Christian-Republican friend Bush's flip-off video... |
|
He got all quiet for a little while and then just said,
"I lost alot of respect for him when I saw that. Real Christians don't do things like that, especially when leading the country and in front of media."
Or something to that effect.
He said he's probably not going to vote at all now.
He's a real standup guy and is really strong in his faith, I have to admire him for sticking with his beliefs and not necessarily his party.

8. Well, I can understand how you would admire him for sticking |
|
with his beliefs, but still....
Shouldn't his beliefs have tickled his conscience a bit when it became common knowledge that tens of thousands of Iraqi citizens, and greater than 1,000 Americans were killed on false pretenses?
I'm really not blasting him, honestly - just that things like that make me wonder.

I had a discussion with him about that, and the main reason he is republican is because he is pro-life. He doesn't neccessarily agree with the war.
He said that it's tough to make a choice between endorsing the killing of fetuses or the killing of troops and civilians. It's kind of a lose lose situation.

I kind of cracked up at that. Real Christians don't flip the bird. The guy kills tens of thousands of civilians, and it's the middle finger that's going to alienate his fundie base. The outrage is so misplaced with these people.

10. You're absolutely right. |

I could launch into another story of my fundy family, but you don't wanna hear it. They're more concerned about "dirty" words and gestures and certain nether regions of the body than they are with true morality.

13. Are any Dem groups planning an ad? |
|
The clip is only 21 seconds, so someone could just put that on the air--with the finger pixelated, of course--without any extra comment. Just the clip, then the still photo from the DU front page for six seconds, and then a blank page with the group's required info at the bottom. Simple, effective, and un-spinnable.

15. It's a good choice...if he can't vote for Bush and doesn't want to vote |
|
for Kerry...He's right, he just shouldn't vote at all. I'm glad he came to the right decision. I'm amazed at how much they (the christians) are willing to forgive *, but not forgive others. I just don't understand it.
