A Cubs fan congratulates Boston
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 12:01 AM by mkuhl
Congrats! I even teared up a bit.

Any Cubs fan who isn't ecstatic right now...well, they've got a problem.

You realize that now the Cubs are officially the biggest losers in baseball. Don't have the Red Sox in there with us anymore. Just us. Alone. Since 1908. A bit lonely at the bottom now, but we're kinda used to it.

Anyway...congrats. And many happy returns.

1. The Cubs always were bigger losers..
..the Bostonites just got more press because they played out east. It's hard for me to have sympathy for a team with a monster payroll and their "curse," particularly when we in Chicago have to endure having both our teams usually unable to be competitive. :)

2. As a Bostonian I say... thank you.
It felt good.

It was not heart-pounding, gut wrenching, seat-gripping, down to the last-play action... But it felt good.

My wish is to see the Cubs face the Sox next year for a chance at the championship.

Either way - I like the theme of broken curses... maybe we can break one more on the 2nd.

3. Now only the Cubs are special
Boston has joined the ranks of other 'winners' like the Florida Marlins and California Angels.

4. Very special...
Almost special enough to get a medal for trying.

If you know what I mean.
