2. Between Charleston, SC, and Wilmington, NC
If it hits Charleston, Charlotte will feel the effects; Wilmington area, and Raleigh will get the storms.

Poor Raleigh folks always seem to get the real weather crap for some reason-

5. Maybe Bermuda?
Looks like the hurricane is already starting to turn north while it is still over 1300 miles east of Miami. Typically, storms that start this northward movement before reaching the Greater Antilles do not make land fall on the N. American continent. Then again, it could head for Bush's lair in Texas....

6. Welcome to DU, miami_mike
I'm looking at the official forecast, and it takes it right off NC.

7. Hopefully Florida
Nothing against Florida, it would just be easier for it to jump the Gulf and take out Texas from there. :P

9. Looks like it's heading for Brother Pat himself.
Methinks he wasted too much time praying for the destruction of America. "God" might just have a starting place in store.

I guess that would place me a mere 75 posts or so from the eye of the hurricane.

Bring 'em on.

10. But COULD it enter the Gulf?
I know the forecasters are predicting a northward turn, but if it enters the gulf, it will strengthen over the very warm gulf waters, and then I don't even want to guess what could happen!

It is still moving pretty much due west. If it doesn't turn, woe be unto us Gulf states!

11. it all depends on the weather coming east to meet it
it could turn at anytime depending what combinations of fronts it encounters.
