1. I don't think they are that rare

2. Thats where I got this - if you follow it you'll find that the next TOTAL
eclipse in oct is 2050

Scroll down to the table that goes into the next century

There is a total lunar eclipse on this date & location:

If your point is that the next Oct. one is in 2050 but you missed the one in 2014, how does your point remain standing?

We just don't get to see them as often. It depends on where you are on the Earth at that time.
