1. Here it is, though I don't agree |
"I've been rooting for this day since I was a kid. I couldn't be more thrilled for the team and for all the fans who stuck by the Red Sox year after year after year. This Red Sox team came back against all odds and showed America what heart is. In 2004, the Red Sox are America's team."

2. I'm not a baseball fan but I would agree with this assessment |
the Red Sox have been the underdogs for sooooo long, it's just kinda nice for a lot of us to see them win.
Now when the Dallas Cowboys are called "America's Team" - THAT f***ing DISGUSTS me - more like "South America's Team."

3. Just a Yankees fan that has issues |
I admit it, I'm a Yankee fan. I can't support the Red Sox as America's team. I will say that 2 weeks ago, when the Yankees were up 3-0, my friend asked if I would give the Red Sox the World Series for the next ten years if it meant Kerry wins this election and said I gladly would. Despite my Yankee-love, I hope this comes to pass. I'll cheer for Kerry and Edwards for the next 8 years as I wait for the Yankees to come back to the World Series. If Kerry loses though, I'm going postal. I can't handle the Red Sox winning and another 4 years of hell under bush.

6. face it, the sox are SO America's team. They're red, white, and blue |
from the city that's the cradle of American democracy, made up of a bunch of underpaid (for the baseball market anyway) hard-working, wild-haired dirtdogs.

5. Or as the Daily Show will paraphrase it tonight, |
"With due consideration, I am...filled with an emotion...that is commiserate with pride...which all Americans can, in the privacy of their own faith and with equal but individual affection, appreciate. The individuals who wear this...uniform, of sports-related representation...demonstrated the perseverence for which our nation is made...Boston has prevailed."

7. And now he should just ignore it! Seriously, if he makes a big deal, he |
seems like he's trying to ride their wave of popularity. It's a difficult balancing act for politicians by trying not to seem like they're taking advantage as opposed to just actually be happy for your team.

8. WARNING ON KERRY - RED SOX |
My repuke friend told me that during the All-Star break last year, Kerry told the press his favorite Sox player was Manny Ortiz. A google search indicates this is true. Watch out for these comments by your repuke neighbors and co-workers.
