So I was watching all these people talk on cell phones in the supermarket
the other day. And I thought the next technological advance in the phone industry will be to just implant phones into people's skulls so they can talk without having to hold anything in their hands. And then I thought, "Wow, that would make talking on a phone as effortless as thinking." And then I thought, "Wow maybe that's what thoughts actually are, wireless phone conversations with God and we don't even know we're connected to this giant switchboard in the sky. And then I thought, "Wow, that was good shit, man, I need another hit."

They're just having b.s. conversations. Can't they do that at home? They're so involved in talking they block the aisle, run their carts into my heels. I want to just smack the shit out of them!

excerpt: High-Tech Hearing Bypasses Ears By Laila Weir

02:00 AM Sep. 16, 2004 PT

A wristwatch phone that lets you listen by sticking a finger in your ear, an MP3 player that vibrates the bones in your skull to play music that only you can hear -- these are some of the products being developed using a technology called bone conduction that sends sound waves through the bones around the ear.

Bone-conduction technology has long been used in hearing aids and other products for the hearing impaired, as well as in military headsets. Recently, several commercial companies have embraced it for products aimed at the general public.

4. I always wonder
when I see everyone on cell phones, "What in the hell did they do before cell phones came along? How did they do without all these important conversations while they were shopping and driving?" It's amazing that people have to be talking all the time! (He says while posting on a discussion board.)

5. I work p/t in retail (books) and what drives me crazy...
...are the ones that walk up to the register AND THEN GET OUT THE PHONE. :grr: Then I have to ask all the rote questions while they're talking. :eyes:

Wait 48 seconds 'til I move your ass though checkout - THEN dial the phone.

6. I find them pretty irritating, too. But some, I understand....
Mostly, they're made by guys calling home to ensure they get the grocery list right.

I mean, canned tomatoes--diced or whole? With chilis or spices? Stewed tomatoes? Tomato sauce? Tomato paste? Better he get the order right than go all the way home to discover he screwed up...

8. I am sick of it
if someone is on a payphone it would be considered completely unacceptable if you stood a foot behind them and listened. But they think nothing of sujecting me to their inane conversations when I'm in line at the supermarket.
