1. Gosh, could it be a photo poster?
Something to do with Roosevelt?

4. I just got one question.
I saw the thread in ATA didn't see the other one. I didn't even have to refresh to see what Skinner was talking about, it was right there. Did that guy think we are that stupid?

5. I think he was just very confused.
But he took on Skinner in the Admin forum and that was the end of him. Dope. If you've got 10 people saying the picture you posted wasn't the picture you THOUGHT you posted, wouldn't you just maybe take their word for it? He wouldn't give up.

6. I was following his post in the ask the admin forum
and skinner tried to explain it to the guy like 4 times. Once in a private message, one in his inane post, and twice in the ATA forum. He must have gotten lippy or something, he just didn't want to admit he made any mistake. "you all owe me an apology" yada yada yada. Don't get me wrong, it sounds like he was a tru dem, but if you can't handle the heat when you make a dumbass mistake, get out.

8. I was following the photo
thread today too...I have never posted a picture but is it possible to post a picture that somehow turns in to another picture? When I read Skinner's explanation to him I couldn't understand that part. Thanks

9. it is possible that when you view a site you see one photo
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 05:59 PM by shylock1579
but they make it so that if you take that photo and post it somewhere else, something else entirely shows up. Usually it is just a little sign that says "don't be stealing our pictures" but in this case it was an anti-kerry pic. It is a good idea to "preview" your post when you throw it up there. This guy just couldn't get his head around that.

10. ok
thanks. Do you think that he really was posting the Roosevelt pic or the Bush pic? I think he knew it was the offensive cartoon but, who knows. He seemed to enjoy the uproar.

12. I think he honestly thought is was the anti-bush pic,
but he just wouldn't accept that it was a mistake and he was getting belligerent and rude. Not something you generally want to do directly to the admins.

17. Even if he did preview
It's still possible he saw the picture he thought he posted, because that was the one stored in cache on his computer.

He would see the one that really was posted after he cleared the cookies from the computer.

21. For me it has always been that I see the pic
everyone else sees the dreaded red X. Then, when they go to the original site and get the cookie, they can see the picture too.

19. Hot linking to images on other servers sometimes
pisses off the adm of the other servers. Bandwidth is money. I have heard its better to use a photo bucket server to store images for hot linking.

If DU has say 10,000 users hitting the link, thats a lot of hits on the server, no ad money either.

26. I must post in some very low interest threads
Edited on Thu Oct-28-04 09:15 PM by qnr
Just a random thought, totally unrelated to anything, but I figured, since my signature is in every post (knowing that they are turned off by some users, or universally sometimes) I thought I'd see how many times I'd served it:

terry@timestorm: /home/terry
21:02:55 $ grep ensopus.gif /var/log/httpd/access_log | wc -l
2718
terry@timestorm: /home/terry
21:03:08 $ grep ensopus.gif /var/log/httpd/access_log | head -n 1
24-117-xxx-xxx.cpe.cableone.net - - <20/Oct/2004:01:34:46 -0500> "GET /ensopus.gif HTTP/1.1" 200 13010 (details snipped)

So, since October 20th, the Opus image in my signature has only been hit 2718 times.

Edit: modified the IP address

20. A question
I just checked the profiles - did you know there's a Matcom with over 24,000 posts and a Matcoms ghost with 0?

On a different poster who I suspect of being a disrupter, I checked and he has the same type of thing - his name and one just one letter off it with 0 posts both set up same day

For what that's worth, anyway.
