Just out of curiosity... this poll is actually quite irrelevant.

2. Now Menthol 100s-- bet you don't even know anyone who does or...

13. Ex-smoker, Kools, 2 to 3 packs a day
Sister started me when I was 5yo, really took it up at 9 (about 1966). Wife and I finally quit at the same time in August 2001.

Menthol. Not for a long time though. Now, occasionally after a symphony concert when we all feel like we played well my friends and I will hit the bar and they always bring me a big old cigar to smoke with them. I do not know what kind but it is wonderful fun.

16. I'm down to two packs of American Spirits a week.
I was smoking a carton a week right up to two years ago this coming January, then I got the flu and decided though I wasn't ready to quit yet, I sure was ready to cut back and get over things like that weeks sooner than if I still smoked in excess of a pack a day.

I've managed to keep it at that level all this time.

I intend to quit. After next Tuesday, I'll sit down and really think about when. I'm not going to do this to myself. I've gotten through the past two years of Bush* bullshit by having that four to six smokes a day, and dammit, I'm not quitting before then.

May not quit if they manage to massage it into a quasi-legal win for the Shrub, either, but I don't think anybody in my life is going to blame me for that.

28. Even if I don't quit right away,
which is to say, even if the election is stolen, I don't plan to get out of control -- it's just going to take me a few months to get used to the idea that before too long, everything I say and do in real life and on the Internet(s) is open to the scrutiny of the (in)Justice Department, and that one false move and I'm toast. It's going to take a few cigs a day to get me through checking all the bizarre books out of the library I planned, and buying hummus at the grocery store. I'm going to do a very quiet, civilly disobedient wack out, I just know it. A literal handful of cigarettes a day will be birdseed to the shit I'll be dealing with in my heart and in my head.

22. Dunhill International.
Camel Lights when I run out of those (no stores within a half-hour drive carry them; I order mine duty-free from Switzerland at a cost of about $16 a carton, which beats the $50+ a carton retail cost).
