2. Heh-heh... just kidding. |

No, I'm not -- kill yourself! I mean it.
Somebody posted here that there's a new boxed set of shows out -- one of the British shows I'd never seen, I know, and some others I think I have seen. Mr. Nownow isn't as familiar with the full-length shows, he's only seen clips and the stuff that was in the tenth-year anniversary tribute show that was on Trio, that Janeane Garofalo narraged.
I think that's going to be our Christmas present to ourselves.

Virtually every field of business serves a legitimate purpose, while being unfairly tainted by a minority component that is unethical if not downright bad news.
Condemning everyone in advertising or marketing is the exact same thing the pukes are doing by condemning all trial lawyers because of some "frivolous" lawsuits, ignoring that trial lawyers are the last line of defense for citizens against corporations.
Or saying that all food manufacturers should kill themselves because some companies make junk food. Or that the benefits of prescription drugs are negated by the greedier aspects of big pharma.
A huge majority of advertising and marketing ethically promotes legitimate products, thus fueling the economy... as someone said, if nobody sells, nothing happens.
Advertising also makes possible the publication of newspapers, magazines, broadcast television and radio, and nearly all sources of free information and entertainment.
I do read Adbusters and sometimes have my doubts about my field. Granted, I'm not proud of a LOT of highly visible advertising that goes on, especially stuff that creates false needs, or makes people feel inadequate. Or the horseshit political ads. But to suggest that everyone in the field is not worthy of living in Bill's precious little world is as idiotic as most of Bill's recycled Carlin material. I guess Bill wasn't worthy of living in his own precious little world, either.

4. P.S. Didn't Bill bitch about... |
|
...poor turnout at his club dates due to lack of promotion? Seems I recall a rant along these lines on one of his records.
I bet he was also the first to bitch about how his records went nowhere (during his lifetime) because they didn't receive enough advertising support...
