I love Cannonball Run...yep there it is...come on your turn. The funny thing is that it's probably considered a classic on the Free Republic.

11. Bruce Willis
Sure he's a Freeper, but the movie is GREAT!!!!! It is a send-up of his usual Die Hard nonsense and hits the mark PERFECTLY.

I just remember watching Andie McDowell(sp?) walking away from a talking/flashing crucifix and Hudson saying "Catholic girls are SCARY".

The critics all expected another Willis shoot-em-up, and the marketing idiots sold it that way, but this was the precursor to Fifth Element. The bad reviews were based on expectations. If you went and saw The Naked Gun expecting an intense crime drama..... ah well, you get the point.

Three point five out of four stars. Check it out. Just expect a send up of the usual Willis move, not another.... uh.... (hell, I can't think of a serious one besides Die Hard).

93. The Hawk has its moments...
If you can get your hands on the Richard E Grant memoir, he has some great stories to tell from the days of making that movie.

I'm sure the guy who wrote "The DaVinci Code" cribbed it all from Hudson Hawk.

95. You've got to believe we are magic--
don't let your aims
ever stray,
and if all your hopes survive--
destiny will arrive.

I'll bring all your dreams alive
for you.

Oh Terpsicore and the rest of the Muses, if that wasn't my favorite movie when I was like, nine or ten. Olivia Newton John was my hero. "Grease" was the second movie I saw in a theater ever ("Star Wars" was the first--and I so wanted to be her. I got the sondtracks to "Xanadu" and "Grease" and played them on my tape recorder forever singing along. Although I know people who appreciate "Grease" and know *that* soundtrack (because it was on Broadway and whatnot) most people I know do not get choked up when they hear:

Suddenly, the wheels are in motion
and I...I'm ready to sail any ocean,
suddenly, I don't need the answers,
cause I...I'm ready to take all my chances
with you.

And for a little while, it was on HBO (The Early Years) even more than "Beastmaster." (Marc Singer, later to be extra super studly cool in "V". Yes, I am a geekgirl. My own geekmovie thing is ALL HIGHLANDER FILMS (even Highlander II and Endgame) and of course--the "Revenge of the NErds" oevre.

39. That is so weird. I just downloaded that song last week, and
I've been playing it in my car.
It's a good sing-along driving song.

I'm writing a novel involving magic, and I have been playing all sorts of songs with "magic" themes or words.

But, I think it really applies
And hey! Olivia is a good role model, breast cancer survivor and all.

Kerry On!

As a kidd, Olivia Newton-John was my female ideal in every way.

Apparently Xanadu has a big gay following. I also like dance music.

What can I say?

27. hey, I liked it

The worst kind of B film making in parody, and at the same time an overt reminder that most American sci/fi is offspring of the settlement of the Western U.S.- utopianism and Indian massacres. Pretty brutal by Bradbury.

As for vacuousness and bad movies with a BIG wink, I confess to having seen 'Suddenly Susan'.

"I'll tell you later."

Plus, is there a better name in cinema ever than John Smallberries?

I liked it, it had potential but it just fell flat. I even admit it was a really bad movie but I can't help myself from liking it but Shaq is a BAD ACTOR and all the basketball references were unnecessary. But I like to watch and laugh everytime it comes on. It's so bad it's good :D

101. Vanilla Sky
The video store clerk practically begged my husband and I not to rent it...said it was the worst movie she'd ever seen and they'd had customers who rented it demand their money back after renting it. I told her that only made me want to see it more.

I thought it was great, and for me that is saying something because I really can't stand Diaz or Cruz. I do love everything Cameron Crowe does though, and having Jason Lee in it also helped. So anyway, yeah, I don't understand why this film is so passionately hated...I say Mr. Crowe is a genius and has yet to make a bad film!

61. I loved that movie when I saw it
Granted, the robot owl seems a little hokey looking back... but, when I was a kid, it was cool.

"How dare you compare your daughter's beauty to mine!!!"

yet I never missed the TNT re-runs (when they still ran it on a regular basis).

But what a cast, huh?

Lawrence Olivier, Maggie Smith, Ursula Andress, Burgess Meredith, Harry Hamlin...

I love when Ducky lip syncs and dances to Otis Redding, as a tribute to Molly Ringwald.

78. Thank you. I've spent most my life with non-geek friends
during a time it wasn't "cool" for girls to be geeky. I've taken a lot of ribbing over some of my movie choices.

:hi:

89. You know, now that you "say" that, I think I've heard that.
Wouldn't that be too cool with the technology available now.

Do you think the command program would look like Bill Gates?

Okay, I'm sick. It's a disease.

90. They recently did a sequel as a computer game: Tron 2.0.
It wasn't as good as the movie, unfortunately. It was a first-person shooter like Doom, but with better graphics. There is a storyline told in the game about having to enter the computer and fight to stop a new evil computer system, but it doesn't quite take off. The lightcycle part of the game looks great but is incredibly hard because you are essentially travelling at the same speed as depicted in the film, and trying to control that with the arrow keys.

they even have a joy-stick on the Enterprise.

I can't help it. I love it when she says "There's Gum in my seat....Gum!" in order to get away from that creep.

Greatest_excuse_ever.

Well, actually a close second to "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion" when Romy says that she cut her foot and her shoe is filling up with blood...and then she limps away.

I also own it. It's strangely compelling to me. Maybe I should move to Oklahoma or one of the other flat states.

I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned yet. I love it. I know every word by heart. I AM Liesl when I'm singing "I Am Sixteen Going on Seventeen" in the garden. And when the Mother Superior sings "Climb Every Mountain" to the Baron and Maria I'm a goner.

I could watch it one-thousand times. And I am a girl, and I'm not attracted to other girls -- so it's not for the prurience. It's strictly for the storyline and the acting.
