What're you doing up right now?
Me, I'm a geologist working on a drilling rig pulling the night shift opposite my compadre. We each do 12 hrs. I go home in a week and a half.

Not sure about Iglesias but tupac is good, "Do for love" is one of my favorites. I haven't heard of that band, I'm trying to check them out but I can't play any of their videos due to some "unsupported audio"

43. What is "tripping a drill string out"
Does that mean they blew out some breakers?? Just curious
Used to work in an oil refinery, and an now working in a power plant...
Just love that industrial stuff..

And 12 hour shifts are the "norm" around here...if I was on my regular schedule, would have like 14 days off each month...but we are getting ready to put our new cogen online, so can we say HAVE NO LIFE??

46. Pulling drill pipe
out of he wellbore is known as "tripping out." (I'm not making this up.) Putting drill pipe in the bore hole (as opposed to drilling forward when the bit is on bottom) is known as "tripping in." Collectively, all of the BHA (bottom hole assembly) and the drill pipe is known as the drill string, as it can get long (we're about 2 1/2 miles deep right now). Drill pipe comes in 30 ft sections. These are known as joints. Just tripping out 30 foot joints, man. :hippie: :smoke:

37. I slave for TWO men.
A father and son who own their own home improvement company. Don't freak out now, but I'm a telemarketer. I'm not some nasty ignorant bitch telemarketer, though. My bosses believe we should never bother anyone who's on a do not call list and we don't have to pressure anyone. Mostly we contact customers and we get a lot of call ins. Sounds like a terrible job, but there's no where else I could stand for 8 hours a day.

52. No, but it is so funny you should ask.
There are only 2 telemarketers, myself and another lady. She left to go get herself lunch yesterday and was asking myself and our 2 front office girls if anyone wanted anything and we all were kidding around naming various liquor.

It's actually a much easier job than you'd think, though. In our area the business is very well respected and it's quite rare for anyone to even hang up or get upset with the call.
