HARTSDALE, N.Y. -- Think getting dressed up for Halloween is just for kids? Think again. Dogs are getting into the act, too.

People gussying up their dogs for Halloween can go whole hog to have the top dog this year thanks to E&E Hallstrom Haute Couture.

2. Oh Come Now, Everybody

These costumes ARE stupid, BUT relatively harmless. Although I don't envy anyone's pet for having these silly things strapped to their heads and bodies.

I got that beat, though--in my local paper, "inexpensive" home-made children's Halloween costumes include "Freeway" (a black body suit covered with toy cars and reflective-tape striping), "Picnic" (dress and hat made from a tablecloth with paper plates and plastic utensils glued on), "Spring" (a flower dress), and "Tourist" (ugly hat, sunglasses--at night?--a Hawaiian shirt, camera, sandals, and an obnoxious point-and-gawk attitude).

ANYONE who does anything LIKE that to their child should be horsewhipped.

"Here's your costume, dear!"
"W-what is it?"
"It's a Glad bag! You're going as a bag of garbage!! It's cute--and didn't cost a dime!!"
"I'm going to kill you someday, Mommy."
