Dean just saved me from getting a speeding ticket!
Edited on Sat Sep-13-03 07:35 PM by newsguyatl
so i just got pulled over here in downtown atlanta... i admit it, i was in a BAD mood, i'm stressed, folks on the road were getting on my nerves, and so i was J E T T I N G down the street... well, cop car comes SHOOTING after me (lights AND siren, which is interesting)...

cops are like "what are you DOING flying through here like that??? where the heck are you GOING??" thank GOD i had a ton of dean papers (flyers, press releases, etc) next to me in my seat that i'd been working on just minutes before... so i pulled one out of my ass real quick and said something along the lines of "i've gotta get back to ____ (place i work) to fax these press releases to media for howard dean's visit here monday. we're doing stuff really last minute, and i'm bogged down right now and frankly in a hurry." one of the cops says "gov. howard dean, i've heard about him, isn't he a democrat?" here, i sensed an opening, took a gamble, and went for it... i said "yeah, he's trying to kick bush out of office. and i'm pretty sure he's gonna succeed." cops chuckle, told me if dean doesn't win, they're gonna come looking for me, and wished me on my merry way...

whew, so thanks gov. dean... you saved me BIG time today.

2. The power of Dean
LOL! Resistance is futile.

You should clean that up a bit and send it to his blog. They just might use it. Glad you didn't get the ticket.

8. You're probably right......
:)

Terrific story that hopefully you'll get to tell Governor Dean YOURSELF at the next event.....

And, if you have the name of the officer, might be cool to send him an invite*** (just a thought!)

That was a highlight today - thanks***

11. Laws of physics
If they had to do 60 to catch you, you couldn't have possibly been going 60. They would have gained no ground on you.

12. How can you possibly speed in downtown Atlanta?
Unless it was the middle of the night or on a Sunday. Or were you on I-75?
