I'm not sure where this belongs... but on the way home we passed a church
it's sign read,

"The war in Iraq killed 1100. Abortion killed 44 million."

More than a Christian statement it seems to me the billboard for that church is an inflammatory statement of the right wing christian coalition to get people like my cousin who, only last week, told me that she voted for Bush because she believes in the right to life and her Christian values are closest to Bush.

Secondly, if you add the INNOCENT IRAQI CIVILIANS who have died and are dying in Iraq as a result of Bush's invasion, occupation and massacre of Iraq the number goes up a lot higher than 1100 dead troops.

Thirdly, abortion is a decision made between a woman, her God, and her doctor.

Pro lifers are invading the woman's Right to Choose in the same way that George Bush invaded Iraq--by force. It is their way or the highway. They have no right. Just like George Bush really has no rights over Iraq or the Iraqi people... even when he won't let go until he's looted all their oil.

2. It's funny they would mention ...
that, since the number of abortions has increased since AWOL annointed himself.

Actually the number of deaths world wide has dramtically increased (Due to war and terrorism). Four more years and he might have a shot at Hitlers record.

Cheers
Drifter

3. Please tell us what church and where!
They're marginalizing the pain and suffering of the families and friends of those 1100, not to mention the (possibly) 100,000 innocent Iraqis that have died since the war began. They need a smackdown, and HARD.

10. The church is called "The First Christian Church"
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 11:31 AM by flordehinojos
it is right here in South Florida, Brenda Snipes' (SOE) territory as well as Republican Representative E. Clay Shaw's, and where not too far away from that church a Real Estate billboard reads, "Seek the will of God, then vote". For some reason that too sounds "right wing christian coalition" to me.
:)

13. Any idea what town?
There seems to be quite a few churches by that name, and I'm not too familiar with Florida's layout.

4. Abortion is killing at higher rates under Bush than under Clinton
http://www.sojo.net/index.cfm?action=sojomail.display&issue=041013#5

"Pro-life? Look at the Fruits" by Dr. Glen Harold Stassen

About how the abortion rate, after a decade-long steady decrease, has gone up under George Bush.

Don't get me wrong; I'm pro-choice. I'm just saying this article should give pause to those who are pro-life and supporting Bush for that reason.

5. God aborts more babies than anyone else...
Spontaneous abortions (God's decision) occur at a far greater rate than abortions by any persons. Should we be against God for that?

7. You should make a big sign to put under it
And on this sign there should be a list of things such as car accidents, hurricanes, cancer, and AIDS with the numbers of all the people who die from those things every year. This church is just taking two figures that don't have a lot to do with each other to try to make a point.

11. So what they are saying is that between the 2
..there were 44,000,1100 deaths. Without the asshole's war, there would have been 1100 less deaths. Or aren't those lives precious enough to give a shit about?
Their 44 million number is a load of crap anyway.

They must worship the other Jesus. You know, the one that loves war and thinks that killing lots of brown people is great.

14. Count up all the deaths from wars in the name of God throughout history
Abortion would pale in comparison.
