Your cat: Does it heartlessly manipulate you?
Mine does. She plays on my tender emotions when she wants food. When she isn't hungry, she sleeps.

1. They appear at treat time. Then they leave.

2. you won't believe this
my cat has trained me to take her for a walk when I walk the dogs. Yes, I have a border collie, a chihuahua and a cat, among other critters.

How did she do it you ask? She would come sit by the umbrella stand and howl when I was leashing everyone up. When I came back there would be a puddle. This went on for some time, until one day I figured I'd just saddle her up too and see what happens.

Now she doesn't much care if the dogs come or not - she wants her daily walks.

3. does she really walk?
I've seen people trying it here in town and it looks more like they are dragging a ball of fur around. The cat resists every step. Does yours actually walk?

13. she walks until she gets bored then she rides the human
it looks quite ridiculous - I'm sure the neighbors have just mostly written us off as those eccentric queers who live down the street.

She is really car-stupid and freaky when not on a leash though. We have another cat (a porch cat) that is a hybrid sumo wrestler/calico with a few hippopotamus genes thrown in. She doesn't need a leash and I think she eats pit bulls for breakfast, with a side of Rottweiler. She recently moved into my backyard and beat the crap out of my grouchy old cat-eating border collie, and now insists that they share his air-conditioned dog palace. I have actually caught them snuggled up together under the back deck.

4. a lady I work with has a cat that does that
when she walks her beagle, her cat tags along without a leash always sticking with them.

As you can see, she has her "begging paw" up in this photo.

Greatest.Cat toy.Ever.

On edit--My cat has the begging paw too, and that *exact* same look when she is hungry. She will sit by the food and look at me, then look at the empty plate, then look at me.

9. Eleanor does the same thing.
Especially if we give her Cat Sip. She can use the saddest expression when she wants to.

11. Awwwe..
I know the feeling...

..and one of mine, Gracie, she is such a mope. She is like a professional at sleepiing and relaxing...

She'll sit next to me and watch TV, and put her front paws on my arm and stretch out and then mope, and mope, and mope some more (in a good way).. and she purrs and purrs. One of the best things in my life.

:)

Heyo
