7. Yes, in yesterday's thread on these "hilarious" children's costumes.

Listen, I'm not going to argue humor with you. But I do know that Abu Ghraib is about as funny as the Holocaust. Hey, how about dressing kids up as a beheaded American? Or a quadrapalegic veteran? Are your sides splitting yet?

If that site had put these costumes on adults it would still be sick. But to enlist children in the misguided idea of "spoofing" torture is beyond the pale.

These are not funny! Bad enough adults might think wearing an AbuGhraib costume is funny...but for adults to put children in costumes that mimic the AbuGhraib photos is contemptible.

There is nothing remotely funny about AbuGhraib. No matter how you turn it around, shake it up or reconstitute it, the scandal at AbuGhraib has no humor in it.

How about a costume of the clothes worn by a child at the My Lai massacre? Would that be hilarious?

No one's saying torture is funny, goddammit.

It wouldn't be funny if these weren't images that have been seen dozens of times and burned into our collective memories. That changes the context and makes it ripe for satire.
