I know what you mean that we cannot figure you out. I met my ex-wife in early 1997 and we got married in late 1998. Prior to meeting her, I had dated once in a while, but was rarely in any sort of relationship. Most of the time, women told me I was "too nice" for them. Then, I would listen to them complain about how their boyfriends were not nice.

However, our marriage was a disaster and my ex filed for divorce in late 1999. From the time she filed until I met my new wife in early 2001, I dated like crazy. Suddenly, now that I was divorced, or divorcing, I was no longer "too nice" for a lot of women even though I was still the same fairly easy going, laid back guy. Heck, even though I was in my early to mid 30s, I got a ton of dates with gorgeous college women – girls that previously would not give me the time of day.

So, having a black mark on my record certainly helped me out with women.
