Poll question: What should I be for a Halloween party?
I am off to the costume store. A friend is having a party and I am not sure what to be. Usually I just raid my closet, but this year I am into a little role playing, or something. :)

1. Really scare the shit out of the other guests--go as the Bushes
You wear cheap makeup that doesn't suit you, huge fake pearls and a curtain wrapped around you like a toga and say you're Laura, your husband wears a suit that doesn't fit and carries a big-ass can of pretzels from Costco and says he's George. For added effect, muss his hair up, put a little fake bruise on his cheek and get about six beers into him before you head out.

8. and don't forget the "back bulge"
Tape a cell phone or something under "Bush's" jacket -- and for extra effect, call him periodically so everybody can hear it ringing.

13. I never wear makeup - other than for fun
and haven't for 20 plus years. So that would be different. Those are pretty good ideas, though. I picked the Gothic option, but actually an American Gothic version of * and his wife might be funny.

14. oh those days of debauchery
my soph. year in college I went to visit one of my inamorata's in his dorm room wearing a spider costume I had made myself, complete with 8 cardboard arms... and I was a little toasted as I recall. His response was "why do you only come see me when you are drunk." Oh, well. I was young and foolish. Looks like this young man has no complaints. ;)

3. I voted witch because it's easy.
Black velour dress, some green face paint, and a cool Mother Goose hat. And, no you can't borrow my hat. But a sprite is good, as well. And you can use the green face paint. Yup, I like the green face paint. It is like instant costume in a subtle way. Pointy ears are a good accessory.

9. Hee!
I admit I kinda have a bah humbug attitude towards Halloween...I'm a weirdo 365 days of the year and sort of look at it as a pathetic sort of Muggle day. But I'm a candy whore. So it's a love-hate kind of thing. :P

Also it leads to the irritating phenomenon I get throughout September and October. The oh-so-clever people that yell at me when I'm walking down the street, "Halloween is/was NEXT/LAST month, stupid!" :eyes:

17. see I used to dress like everyday was Halloween
to some extent as well. I love Halloween. If I didn't have the kind of job I do, I would have purple hair... I am more of an amalgam of punk and hippie- arty earth mommy type.

10. Ann Coulter definitely.
But beware- if you're going to use theatrical blood, it stains your skin! I dressed up for work today as GW in a suit and tie and mask with fake blood on my hands and the blood left behind this reddish stain all over my hands! ACK!

19. that is funny
after Reagan was elected in 1980 I wore men's suits with black armbands to my job. No fake blood, though. Maybe there should have been.

you must have a tolerant work place. I'm a therapist, so I can't dress up to work anymore. Scares the clients.
