Hi, everyone. My kid has pneumonia. I help others out on DU...
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 07:38 PM by jchild
when they ask for assistance in locating a thread, if they have been away for awhile.

Yes, I am whining. :-) But I haven't been on DU all day today, and I asked in GD04 for some help in finding the original thread on the OBL topic.

No one helped, and I was actually mocked, because there are "over 300 threads on the subject."

Do unto others...and all that stuff.

I just want to tell those of you who are good folks to others in a similar situation that you are appreciated. Smart ass remarks when I am going through what I am going through today--with a sick kid--serve no purpose.

Ok...my rant is over. :-)

1. I'm sorry to hear that.
I made a mistake here once, and was ridiculed for it, so I know how you feel.

People don't really mean it, I don't think, they just forget that not everyone is so hyper-tuned to every little detail.

4. Sorry about your kid
I had pneumonia when I was 11. I don't know how old your child is, obviously it is more serious for infants. Once the antibiotics start kicking in your child will get a lot better.

13. Yeah.. I had pneumonia at about the same age.
I was in 6th grade at the time. It wasn't fun. I spent the whole time working on a report that was due when I got back to school a week later.

I got bronchitis the year after that too.

I'd have tried to help you out but I've been away for several days. It seems like the people who post in GD2004 like to rip other people as a kind of hobby or something...As if you need the extra stress...

I hope your child gets better real soon!

8. I'm sorry.
If I knew what the hell was going on around here, I'd throw up a link for you. I just got off of work, though and it was too busy to browse DU today. One of my pet peeves is someone pissing on a thread by attacking the poster, or being rude for no reason whatsoever. Some people just don't have manners, but luckily many people at DU are awesome. You'll probably get a link soon. :)

14. LOL! I haven't checked back...it would piss me off even more...
to find that more people have been assholes to me. So, I think I have deduced what is going on.

OBL says "Bush bad! I did 9/11. Bush hates freedom. We want freedom for muslim countries."

Bush replies, "I will hunt down this hater of freedom and kill him."

Kerry says, "I will hunt down this terrorist and kill him."

Pundits say, "Bad for BUSH!" "Bad for Kerry!"

DUers say--about a million different things.

:-)

No, I think I have put it together from reading several of the threads...I did a search, and about fifty different threads surfaced, so I just said, "eff it." :-)

25. He's high.
His cough medicine has him soaring right now. He's using the digital thermometers to take his temperature all over his body. Last I checked, he had one in each nostril. :-)

This is the funniest thing to watch. I ought to be videotaping it for his future progeny. :-)

23. Yes, I actually found one at the "old drug store" in town.
I took my kid on to the quick care center this morning. An x-ray showed that he has pneumonia. :(

The digi thermometers didn't diagnose him with a fever, but the mercury did.

I bought all three thermometers the old store had...I will put them up and be really careful with them. :-)

Dunno what the original OBL thread would be, but here's my transcript thread from LBN:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=102&topic_id=944144&mesg_id=944144
There should be an earlier OBL thread there, too. Advantage of LBN is every yahoo can't start their own "OH MY GOD! WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!" thread, so it moves a trifle slower.

It might be funny, sort of, to go back to your GD:C thread and edit the original message to add: THIS IS A YES OR NO QUESTION. PERIOD.

52. She was out of school the whole week.
She had a cold going into last weekend, then she got a fever that Saturday. She started to get over it around Wednesday.

I've said a thing or two about drugs and pharmaceuticals, but I was VERY thankful to have those antibiotics for her.

My doc said it lasts 5-7 days.
