MOVIE QUESTION FOR TEXANS
Edited on Fri Oct-29-04 11:04 PM by 5thGenDemocrat
One of my favorite movies is "Fandango." I know that Kevin Costner and the rest of the guys were students at the U of T in the film -- but where did their road trip take them?
I know they went through the town where they shot "Giant," and I assume they unearthed Dom in the Big Bend area. Am I right? Like I said on another thread, I've heard Texas is a big place.
Someday, I think I might like to take some time off and follow that road trip. Is that possible or did they just shoot the movie at a bunch of non-linear places?
John
Movie buff. Especially for obscure movies.

not sure, 5th.

I've actually never seen Fandango, but I know "Giant" was shot in Marfa, in West Texas (I think it's somewhere between El Paso and Del Rio). There's supposed to be some cool lights in the sky there.

Sorry I can't help much in the other department, but pretty much anywhere you want to go in Texas will be via I-35 or I-10. They'll take you to the biggies.

2. Yeah, I figure they headed west by south

But I've never taken notes well enough to actually chart it as to check for the BS quotient. I'd like to think I could drive the trip someday and stop at the Sonic (I've never been to a Sonic) and shoot off fireworks with cute crazy girls in the cemetery and, of course, dig up Dom -- which was the point of the movie.
John
Like I said, I've seen Fandango a bunch of times. Thanks for the answer.

6. If you get to Sonic,
I'll recommend the #2 cheeseburger (no onions), tots with cheese, and a Route 66 size fresh lime slush.

I can't survive blast furnace summers here without the ever-present lime slush.

Sonic rules, and they give to Democrats! :-)

5. Giant and Gone with the Wind used to be my favorite movies then
Giant started reminding me of Bush and their oil dynasty and democracy seems to Be Gone with the Wind !

I feel flattered that you delurked to answer my stupid question. But, like my old college instructor once said, "There are no stupid questions -- only stupid people who ask questions." Again, welcome aboard.
John
That simplifies things from our Lone Star DUers -- do those sites sit more or less on a line (leaving Tulsa out -- I don't recall them being in Tulsa in the film)?
