A Saturday morning Gay and Lesbian question?
Who usually drives the car in your relationship when you go out?

I've alway been struck by how the man in a hetero relationship always drives the car... Heck, even in my marriage, (a marriage predicated on equality) I find myself driving 90 percent of the time.

What's up with that?

1. HAHAHAHAHAHA
Too funny... It IS an interesting question though. And it really depends. I've been in relationships where I do most of the driving and in others where the other person does. Maybe I'm an exception, but it seems pretty equitable.

Now... NSMA may disagree, she seems to like to do all the driving when we're together... :)

2. Haha!
I've been with my partner for eight years now, and we still discuss who drives. It all depends on who's in the mood to.

6. great question-
I know that I prefer not to drive unless I'm driving alone (if that makes ANY sense whatsoever!) I'm a safe driver, don't speed (ok, not too much anyway.), but love the feeling of having my windows down, radio goin', shades on, and being able to "get away from it all."

When I'm driving with others in the car, I have to pay attention to them- I feel responsible for their good time, and even if I'm not in the mood to be chatty, I want to make them feel comfortable. It's weird. I'm not sure that I even understand it, or have really been able to put a finger on this before this post... so, great question- thanks for the thought provoking element of it!

9. My partner learned how to drive in Egypt
I refuse to allow him behind the wheel.

At one point he got his learners and i was sleepy so I let him drive from Calgary to Edmonton, figuring he couldn't get in THAT much trouble on a straight highway.

He did the trip in one hour.

It's a three hour drive.

Never again.

10. For me, it depended on who I was with
I tend to be the driver, unless the other person totally insists on driving then I give in. Maybe it's a control thing?

12. Do you drive when it's her car?
With my hubby and I, it depends on which car we use. I always drive mine and he drives his. He drives an SUV (no flames - he's a carpenter and needs it to carry his many tools around) and I drive a small gas saver so when we're together, we usually take mine. I am not comfortable at all with anyone else driving my rig.

13. I drive the car too.
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 12:53 PM by UdoKier
But I'm a better driver. My wife often scrapes the car pulling out of the garage, and it makes me nuts. But I often wonder if she'd be a better driver if she drove more often.

Also, we live in SF and drive a stckshift. She has a harder time on the hills with that...
