Eminem couldn't release "Mosh" earlier than he did.
I just read a comment that said they had lost respect for Eminem because he didn't release the video earlier than he did. Um, HELLO? Does everyone not realize that entertainment people are all out for themselves? He had to release a song from his new CD that would be catchy for his audience and one that would be a hit single. He did that with "Lose It". He couldn't take a chance on his "repub" fans ditching him.

Not to mention that if he had released the single when the album first came out, the hype would've wore off and it wouldn't have had as much of an impact. The statement shouldn't be "Why didn't he release it sooner?", the fact of the matter is HE RELEASED IT, HE WROTE IT. Period. How many other musicians would've put their neck on the line like he does in the song?

1. Personally, I think the release date is perfect.
Very little time for the blowback from the blowhards.

2. For the audience he's reaching, the timing couldn't have been better
Mosh excites people and motivates people; it appeals to people in a kind of fascistic way, with everyone dressed alike and marching like soldiers down the street; but it may work as well as a minister's sermon does among the Christian Right. Mosh may be the best political song of the era. The song's message of a spontaneous movement means that it had to be released at a late date. Hopefully, it will really set a fire under people and keep it burning until Tuesday evening, or later if they Repugs try to steal the election.

3. So, you're saying he's an unprincipled whore?
What is with you machiavellians?

True artists don't pander to anyone.

wtf?

"He couldn't take a chance on his "repub" fans ditching him." etc

7. Absolutely correct, my learned friend...
true artists stick up for their art, and suffer for it. Oscar Wilde, for example. Linda Ronstadt.

4. Also, there's the MUSIC COMPANY.
The artist, unfortunately, does not have as much control over these things as you'd think.

People are so hard on other people. Like you said, Eminem didn't have to make the song/video AT ALL.

6. You're quite right, BlondieK143...
it was a courageous thing to do, and I hope it gains him fans and income. More than that, if it encourages his fans to vote against Bush, well, three cheers for Eminem. I've never been a big fan (too old, plus the gay-bashing & misogyny), but I have nothing but praise for this "Mosh." I wonder, by the way, if he's making a pun on the word "march." (march/mosh)

:hippie:

8. i`m one who thinks he should have released it
at least a month ago. i haven`t lost respect because he released it now though,in fact ,although i am no fan of his , i do respect his doing this video. the lyrics holds it`s own with the great anti-war lyrics of all time. personally i would have liked to heard him do these lyrics in Madison,Wisconsin in front of 80,000 people....
he was very smart in what he did-release it to the public then "force" trl and mtv to play it knowing full well the corporate whores would never play it otherwise....
