5. You mean "qed" or "q.e.d."?
There's a difference.

qed is shorthand for "quantum electrodynamics."

Q. E. D. is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase "quod erat demonstrandum," which translates literally to "that which was to be demonstrated."

It's what everyone else said, but you can go to Google and use define: word
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&c2coff=1&q=define%3A+QED&btnG=Search

or in your address bar: Dictionary.com/search?q=word

http://dictionary.com/search?q=QED

There are others too, of course.

Edit: typo in subject line

Edit: Jesus-God-in-Heaven, why in the hell would anyone ever, under any circumstances, whaaaaaaatsoever use IE? I have the luxury of blissful Opera stewardship at work and never have to deal with crap like blind (or inaccurate) page loads that lead me to post an answer to a thread, thinking I'm the only one to see it so far, when in fact four dozen people more knowledgable than me have already posted better answers than I have.
