Mel Gibson has lost it.
Combination of huge ego and lots of money, has sent Mel Gibson into a psychotic breakdown.

1. whoa nellie!
Mel Gibson says of (New York Times columnist Frank) Rich, "I want to kill him. I want his intestines on a stick. ... I want to kill his dog." (Rich told us, through a Times spokeswoman, "I don't have a dog.")
</end snip>

Frankly, the real news to me is below the Gibson article -- they are REMAKING THE STEPFORD WIVES! With Christopher WALKEN! Sweet!

At the worst, I'd wish for any one I hated to get the stinkface.

2. You are wrong
That was low blow cheap shot at a man making a great movie. If you don't like it, don't watch it. What a whiny little piece of verbiage.

Fuck the ADL. This is bullshit all the way through.

You are trolling.

Let the man make his movie. America is a free country last time I was there.

Oh wait. Tommy Chong IS in jail isn't he?

On the other side, all this bruhaha is probably helping him sell more tickets in the end. READ AL FRANKEN. O'Reilly's little bawling session bumped Liars to the top for weeks.

5. Um, you don't know if the movie is great or not
you haven't seen it, have you?

You do seem to have an axe to grind with the ADL, though.

This is what Gibson is alleged to have said in defending Anne Catherine Emmerich, a 19th-century Augustinian nun in Germany who recounted visions of Christ's Crucifixion that some regard as anti-Semitic:

"Why are they calling her a Nazi? Because modern secular Judaism wants to blame the Holocaust on the Catholic Church. And it's revisionism. And they've been working on that one for a while."

You have no problem with this but have a problem with the ADL taking issue? Really?

3. I love Frank Rich
I was pissed when I read this. Gibson truly has lost it. He needs to go live in the desert.

Also, he backed out of Moore's project after a call from the WH. F%$k you, Mel!! I hope they nail YOU to the cross. And besides, Jesus was a JEW!!! Jeesh:mad:

4. Mel may be losing it
but remember that people are freaking over a movie that they haven't seen.

It's a movie about Jesus in 2 dead languages, if no one made a fuss you probably would have been able to fit the paying audience in the backseat of a WV Bug, but now everyone's going to want to see this just to see what the big deal is.

6. I have heard all the blather and I am NOT going to see it...
I have no desire to, controversy or not. Mel himself is a revisionist--the so-called historical movies he produces are usually bullshit and hardly historically accurate.

He is a big wanker.

9. The ADL DID see it
and that is why they are pissed. He screened it for them because the two nuns he uses as "historical reference" (becaused they were chanellers) were blood libelists.

It is kind of up to Jews to decide if the movie is offensive to Jews.

10. And the ADL ?
They are really credible. Terrorists in their own right. I suppose you think Daniel Pipes is a good choice as well. Ridiculous.

14. The Anti-Defamation League is a terrorist organization???
What's wrong with you? What are the other organizations on your "terrorist" list? NAACP? B'nai B'rith? Amnesty International? The ACLU? The ADL has been doing good for 90 years. Reasonable people may differ about some of their stances over the years, as they would with virtually any organization, but calling the ADL a terrorist organization pretty much puts the last nail in your credibility coffin, buries it and puts a building on top of it.

Frankly, given your posts in this thread and your other posts, I suspect that your issues may extend beyond the ADL.

16. ADL and JDL
I think "Dutchdemocrat" simply mistook the Anti-Defamation League, (ADL) for the Jewish Defense League. (JDL)

The JDL is a militant Jewish group who's members have been caught a number of times either planning violence or causing it.

22. Thank you Yang!!! Easy for people who
have never been called a Christ killer to say that Jews are overly sensitive to that. Easy for someone who has never been told that the Star of David is a satanic symbol not to get upset. Most of the people who think Jews are hypersensitive about Mel Gibson's movie are or have been brought up in a Christian family and thus are members of the dominant Christianized culture, whether currently Christian or not.

IF I see this movie it will be because someone put it online and I downloaded it. I will no longer give Mr Gibson a PENNY of my hard earned money to see one of his movies. I regret that I have seen a couple of them in the past and really like Conspiracy Theory.

17. Maybe you should realize that Gibson's friends with O'Reilly
Gibson has guested several times on The O'Reilly Factor, both of them fawning over the other, and with Gibson complaining about Hollywood. Gibson even optioned an O'Reilly book, one where someone murders a host of "GNN" - the "Global News Network".

Maybe you should realize that Gibson's hatred expressed in the article is part and parcel of who he's friends with.

13. The problem is....
The fundies can't loose their close ties with the Jews. Their "end of the world" is right around the corner and any divions will only "delay" their cloud-elevator trip to their god...

The way Gibson is telling the crucifiction of Christ is how I learned it in catholic school and my catholic upbringing. He is right that there is extensive revisionism... NOBODY can deny this.

But let's not get into the REAL gritty mess...shall we...

18. Here is my take on Mel. First he has been and always will be a premier
Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 12:39 PM by efhmc
misogynist of the the first order. I hate all types of prejustice but this one never seems to cause any complaints. Yet he is insulting and demeaning more than half of the population of the world but because we are women that makes it okay: just his opinion, his religion, his first amendment right, etc. All that might be true but it does not make it RIGHT. Then there is the issue at hand. Again and again a group of people have been not just maligned but systematically tortured and killed though the centuries in "Christ's" name, which makes it even more horrible, and now here comes Mel with his bit of reinforcing hatred. I gave up paying him any of my money long ago.

21. First of all a misogynist...
...second of all a homophobe...

...I await the actual release of The Passion to tell if he's, third of all, an anti-Semite.

(But even the first two are enough for me. :puke: )

19. Yep, he's lost the plot, IF
the attributed quotes are accurate (and there's no taking out of context what he said). I suppose, then, that calling for someone to die is not a criminal offense unless you follow through or pay someone else to do it. Still, pretty harsh. And I'm not sure he'd have the intestinal fortitude necessary to actually disembowel somebody.

What a doofus.

I'm not going to stop liking some of his films, but what a doofus....
