I just shaved off my hair. Ask me anything.
Edited on Sat Oct-30-04 09:39 PM by Downtown Hound
It was going, going and I don't like the look that some men have when they are trying to preserve that last remaining shred of hair on their head. I've got the skinhead look going now. It should terrify every Republican within fifty miles, so that alone makes me glad I did it.

I just hope my girlfriend likes it.

1. She'll be chasing you around the house trying to rub your head
I just have the barber get mine with the shears as close as possible so that it is about 1/8" when he's done.

Lot easier than shaving it with a razor every few days. And I can wait up to a month before doing it again.

And to think I had hair halfway down my back into my 30's.

17. You should give it a try
Seriously, it'll grow back within two months if you don't like it.

7. Yeah?
I think she'll like it. She's coming over in two hours so I'll guess I'll find out. Hey, I put up with her tongue piercing anyway. Never was a big fan of it, but I still love her, and she's still beautiful.

11. Tongue Piercing Should = FUN FOR YOU!!!
At least in my experience it makes for fun in the bedroom if the other person has a tongue piercing, heh :P :spank:

8. My own quick personal head-shaving story
I shaved my head for the first time a long time ago, mostly because some underage girl that I was infatuated with wanted me to. Later that night, we dropped acid. I could not stop rubbing my head and feeling the folicles grow back; in a mirror, I could actually see them growing. She loved me like no one else ever has. I still miss that girl -- she's the one that has me lying awake at night, thinking of what might have been.

Sorry. Personal nostalgia moment. Carry on.

13. But see that's just it
Baldness was setting in. Granted I had a lot of hair left and it would have taken at least five more years for all of it to go, but why cling? Why not just go for it? I think a shaved head looks better than partial hair, but that's just me, and man, I do look ruthless like this. I'm really a very nice person, but the few times that I shaved my head years ago I never got stopped by the cops so many times. Something to look forward to again, I guess. :)

15. Whatever turns your crank, I guess.
I come from a long line of bald-headed men on my mom's side, and god help me they all look like giant thumbs. If that's my destiny, I'll hang on to what little I have as long as I can.

Thanks for the baldness gene, Mom.

14. I shaved my head back in college - 1994 or 95, I think
because my genetic makeup practically screams "MALE PATTERN BALDNESS!!!." I wanted to see what it'd look like. So I went from long-ass hippy hair to no hair, and found out that I have a remarkably cromulent head for going hairless. Nice shape, no obvious (external) defects. Even a mole nobody had seen since I was wee. Kept it bald or close to bald for 10 years. Grew it back starting last winter after some prodding. Had a decent head of hair going last month when I bleached it, died it blue, and had my then-girlfriend shave me a mohawk. Wore that for a few days, felt ridiculous (blue mohawks and 30 year old schlubs like me are not a match) and asked her to shave it off. Now I have 3 or 4 weeks of growth.

But I look good bald.

21. You got nothing to worry about
You're just as smart as you were before you shaved your head....maybe even a little smarter. Your brain is still functioning without your hair. Just wear a hat on cold days to keep them brain cells warm. I do.

23. my head got close to shaved
when the chemo thing was going on. It was middle-of-my-back too. But I was losing a day's worth of haireach brush stroke...I went to my guy, and he washed my hair and it totally matted at the scalp. Jon was freaked. but I had already decided on the chemo cut, so I wasn't. It was fuzzy! right now, it's about 2 inches long and it stands up!

Don't worry, it'll grow back. I hope you're feeling okay. Chemo is rough, I've seen it.

Actually I currently have no way of posting. GF has the digital camera and I don't know how to post on DU anyway. The few times I've tried it it didn't work.
