does anyone here actually like bass? i figured i'd try something new so i forked over 7 bucks for a 6 pack of bass. boy is it bad - it's got a wierd aftertaste. i've noticed this with guinness, another english beer. freakin brits.
i'm sticking with american/german from here on out.

and Bass is great (but Double Diamond is better).
You apparently prefer lagers, which are much less complex in flavour than ales (stouts like Guinness are also ales). Ales are top-fermented, at cellar temperature, and so taste better at that temperature (about 55 degrees F). Lagers, on the other hand, are bottom-fermented at about 35 degrees F, and are better cold. The difference is in the strains of yeast used, and the yeasts developed as such because of different brewing techniques in the British Isles and on the Continent.

Great on tap. I think you got a bad batch or sample or something.
If you prefer lagers, I can see how you wouldn't like Bass or Guinness.
