Heads are about to explode over at the |

Rapture Ready message board. There was a post criticizing Kerry and the purple hearts. One of the posters said one of his wounds was "self inflicted". They always try to make it sound like he did it purposely. Anyway, I simply pointed out that one of Bob Dole's was also self inflicted.
Boy, are they gonna freak out on that one.
Honestly, I don't go there to cause trouble. But sometimes the pig headedness gets to me and I just have to speak up.

3. You'll have to remind them that if Kerry wins, it's because God chose him! |
|

They can't say that for one but not the other!
I'm actually just kidding them. I read where the bible says in Proverbs that a man may choose his steps but God guides him for His own purposes. That doesn't mean God chooses a person for president or any elected office for that matter. I don't know where they get that belief. Anyway, if they say about one president, they better be consistent and say it about the next one.
(edited for attempt at more clarity)

6. Hah! That gives me an idea. |

When Kerry wins I'm going to all the RW boards I know of and seriously say "it was God's will" just to stir up the chit. The reaction ought to be priceless.

9. Oh yes they can. One is chosen by god |
|
and the other, in league with satanic forces and the "liberal" media cheated and stole the position or so the story will go with the rapture ready crowd. Is this the website, where a few months ago people worried about what would happen to the pets they "left behind" in the event of the "rapture?"

RR is one of my favortie places to visit. It's like a religious Onion. The other day they were talking about where they wanted to be when the Rapture comes (church, singing hymns, natch) or not (using the bathroom or in the sack). What are they going to be wearing, would their pets come or would it harm the children if they were raptured nekkid & the kids saw grandpa w/o clothes. One thing I must say too, those ladies know how to cook. Found a few good recipes in the Ladies section. Now, if they'd just let those poor kids go to school. (No offense to any homeschoolers, here. If it's done well, the kids do great things. I question the value of keeping the kids away from evil heathens--the rest of the world who don't agree with them.)

10. Not only is it not a good idea to keep kids away from |

people who do not think as they do but it is also bad for kids not to see people who do not look like them.

I agree whole-heartedly with you. We do home school our 3 daughters, but we supplement it with making sure that they get to spend time around other children as much as possible. However, my older sister, who is a rather right-wing nut-job, home schools her children because "God told her to", and feels it is her God-given duty as a mother to only allow her children to be around other children that believe as they do (provided they are the same color). One of her greatest fears is that her daughters may marry a "colored" person. Her schooling at home is so wrapped around God that it usually disturbs me when I talk to her about it. Even as I type this, I'm so disgusted I want to rant for an hour.
I guess the biggest difference between my sister and I is that I try every day to make sure that what I'm doing is right, that I'm teaching my children tolerance and respect, no matter what. That's been a pretty hard thing for me lately, since people can be very nasty and things are very partisan here. No matter how much I try to teach tolerance, every once in a while, they do hear me rant about the "idiots" that support Bush.
Aw, well, they are all teenagers, so they also learn valuable lessons from me losing my mind. Mainly, that no one (even Momma) is perfect.
