1. All I can do is wish you luck.
My skill is limited to triangles and a jagged mouth.

2. Does this Photoshop tinkering help?

On edit: enlarge pic to size needed.
Pin prick the black outlined sections and connect the dots with a sharpie marker. XXXXXXX the inside of each black section (so you won't carve the wrong sections).
Use serated knives.
Shade his ugly face by leaving a thin layer of pumpkin skin (IOW, don't carve all the way through).
Take lots of pics!

3. Yes
I'm a professional Illustrator who has done a lot of character work for products (3-D and 2-D). Some of the same principles work here: first, just do his head with just a bit of the tie and shoulders showing-the larger his face is, the easier it will be to carve. You'll need to take out some of the smaller details too. If you want to PM me with your e-mail address, I can simplify the * portrait in Photoshop while still maintaining the likeness and send it to you. You'll also need a proper pumpkin carving kit (available at most hobby stores, or places like Target and K-Mart).

4. Maybe if you just did the face
and shortened the text to "1 TERM"

Good luck. Post a pic when you finish!

5. Tough gig
Trying doing just the face on pumpkin that has the right shape. Don't forget the ears. Do you have a electric knife?
