I sent my fundie mom F 9/11; she says she'll watch it! Prayers |
|
needed that she sees the light! (and watches it before the election-she received it last week and I don't thin she has watched it yet).
My mom was an atheist when we were growing up. She protested the Vietnam war, marched for women's rights, etc. But 20 years ago she became a born again and was sucked into the most cultlike fundamentalist southern Baptist church. She will no longer talk politics with me, but I know she has her doubts about *. She was raised Mennonite (like Amish with cars), so she comes from humble pacifist roots. I'm hoping that that part of her is still buried in there somewhere, and that Michael Moore can reach it. Please send good thoughts and prayers her way today!
Thanks all!

watch Going Upriver as well? I know we're short on time, but that may appeal to her activist roots, which must still be in there SOMEWHERE!!!
Best of luck - I'm still working on my born-again bro-in-law, who is agonizing over this decision. (Still hoping my sister doesn't kill him in his sleep between now and Tuesday)

5. Good luck with your brother-in-law |
|
since my mom almost never watches television or movies, watching F 9/11 will be a real accomplisment. I don't want to push my luck! ;-)

8. The whole Choice issue is a big one for mom |
|
she's strongly anti-choice, which is her main reason for voting *. Hopefully, she'll see that babies get killed by bombs, too (though it seems most fundies don't care about kids who are no longer in the womb).

6. I think the part, early on when the troops are playing the tapes |
|
"Burn, motherfucker, burn" *MIGHT* just turn her offf a bit. That is the only thing keeping me from sending F-911 to my mom or relatives. My father was amazed by the things I had to say about * but sadly his bad memory will prevent him from remembering anything I said. And their church regularly stumps for *.

7. That was my first thought too! |
|
my mom can't tolerate foul language, and that tape is really over the top. But I think the point of including it is a vadid one; the military condones it because they've dehumanized the Iraqi people and our troops. I hope that's what she'll come away from that seqence with, anyhow.
