Do we really want the Packers to beat the Redskins today???? |
|
Or is this the year a team and a Senator from MA break long standing curses/streaks???? Something to think about.

9. Bush will win election if Redskins win. |
|
Kerry will win if they lose.
Since 1936, a Redskin win the week before the presidential election has ment the incumbent has won on the following Tuesday.

17. I think the history is the incumbent gets reelected |
|
if the Skins win the last home game prior to the election.
Right now the Packers are driving up and down the field.

13. Since 1936, Skins win means incumbent wins. |
|
I am pretty sure the players would want Kerry to win, after all DC has voted strongly Democratic in every election since it was allowed to vote. Look at the polls of DC now. Kerry is winning by a bigger percentage than in any other place.
This is about an old superstition.

Joe Gibbs is a born-again NASCAR dad and Mark Brunell is also a well-known Bible Thumper so I suspect they support Bush.

5. I WANT the Packers to win! Always like them since Lombardi. |
|
That's not the only reason though. I figure you could be right on it being the year to break long standing hoaxes, but I'd rather not take the chance!
Also remember, there are lots of other hoaxes out there:
No Pub has ever won without Ohio. Undecided's always break against the incumbant. No Incumbant has ever won if his approval ratings were under 50% the day before the election.
I could go on and on with them.
I'll stick with rooting for a Packers win!!!!

6. Their quarterback been having a rough go of it, I hear |
|
In less than a year, he's lost his father and a brother-in-law, and now his wife's been diagnosed with breast cancer. So even if we didn't need a Packer victory to evict the GOP, I'd be rooting for them. Sounds like the guy needs a break.

11. Well there's this one |
|
and about two others on this game. If people want to pitch a fit about my thread, they need to be consistent.
But I agree, I don't see why there can't be one official game thread in the CAmpaign 2004 forum since there is a link to the election. This isn't just any game.

16. I am a conflicted Skins fan. |
|
Of course I always want my team to win, except this time. Why tempt fate.
Bush says 9/11 changed everything. Maybe it did. Maybe a Redskin's win does not mean an incumbent win this time.
I'm still trying to figure out how Reagan survived the 20 year jinx.
Maybe this is a Meeting Room topic, but I don't think it is a Lounge topic although some people are respinding to it as if they think it is.
