Parents: would you dress a 7-year-old as the Grim Reaper?
Regarding this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1242033
Lynne Cheney made a joke at a campaign rally about her 7-year-old granddaughter's Grim Reaper costume representing Kerry's health care policies.
Now I know how Lynne loves her family and would NEVER cynically or dishonestly use them for political advantage (oh wait, she did already) but this seems a little over-obvious for even these feebs. Yeah, the kid just happened to choose to dress as the Grim Reaper. That sounds pretty likely!
Still, leaving aside cynical political manipulation, isn't that a little young for costumes about death? Maybe Lynne should have cut to the chase and dressed her as Granddad instead.

2. Actually, yes, I would.
If he wanted to dress up as the Grim Reaper, I would let him.

I have more of a problem with kids dressing as pimps and hos than I do with them dressing as the Grim Reaper.

8. I totally agree
The kids dressed as pimps and hos trend really disturbs me.

11. Me, too. I can't figure out what kind of parent would allow...
a young girl to dress up a a whore. It isn't funny. When she turns sixteen and is exchanging sex for crack, will they then develop a conscience?

3. Well, let's see
Ghosts, vampires, ghouls, zombies - aren't they all about death? I see nothing wrong with the Grim Reaper. Sounds like a cool costume. And he's one of my favorite characters in Monty Python's Meaning of Life.

4. it's Halloween
I might not dwell too deeply on the metaphysical aspects of walking around dressed as Death personified, but I think a 7-year-old can handle the costume if she can handle being a ghost.

12. uh-it's hallowe'en
Kids dressed like the grim reaper when I was little. I don't recall it being thread worthy-if we'd had any of the Internets up and running in the day, that is...

As for Kerry's Health Care plan being repped by a child in a Grim reaper outfit-That's pretty rich coming from that biatch! Bush has actually been in office over 3 years now. Not only could his (non-existant) healthcare plan be repped by a Grim Reaper, it could be accurately portrayed as a GHOST.

It's his policy in Iraq that would be VERY ACCURATELY repped by 1100 grim reapers for the US and an UNKNOWN NUMBER of li'l GRs representing the Iraqi dead

13. There are more disturbing costumes

Look, you can always send your kid out dressed like George Bush--although I still say you don't need a purchased costume; just put him in a suit that does not fit, mess his hair up, paint a little bruise on his cheek and give him a bag of pretzels to pack around...perfect likeness.

Young for costumes about death? MOST classic Halloween costumes are about death. Skeletons, ghosts, devils, angels...all about death. It's a holiday that's all about death, especially if you trip on your princess gown in front of a Hummer.

The Grim Reaper suit sounds kinda cute.

15. If I had kids, I would make them dress up as Poland.
Because Poland should never be forgotten for their noble sacrifices in our great coalition of the willing.

16. I don't think it's much of a problem, strangely though, while I agree
with the comments about

Death
pimps & hos

it still makes me think of the MPAA rating system.
