the fuggin' remote is going through the TV. I was giving serious consideration into buying an iPod, but seeing this commercial for the quatorce-hundredth time over the last couple of weeks has driven me to research their competition's players.

3. It's just U2 selling out. Kind of sad, eh?
But I agree...it's on very heavy rotation.

U2 selling out is not exactly earthshattering news. :-(

8. I don't understand the iPod thing
Aren't they like $300 and big like a hand calculator or something?

I have a little Creative MP3 player that is about the size, shape and weight of a cigarette lighter. In fact, it is smaller than most cigarette lighters. It has no moving parts - no disc, just flash memory - so it can't skip. I have about 40 songs on it and there is plenty of room for more. I can put other kinds of files on it too, for transport. It plugs into any USB port and the computer sees it as an additional disc drive - you can drag and drop files easily from your computer to the player and back. It uses a single AAA battery. It cost me $120.

I go to the gym and listen to my own music instead of the gawd-awful hip-hop they always play. It fits inside my shirt pocket. In fact, I could fit two of them side by side in my shirt pocket.

Why buy an iPod?

10. Well, maybe the fact that it can hold 5000 songs
as opposed to your 40?

11. Well, if you need that many
I'm sure my player could hold 50 or 60, and that's plenty for me. I store my songs on my computer and drop the songs I want to listen to into the player. There are only so many of my songs appropriate for an energetic gym workout. I'm sure that's the case with any situation where I would be listening to the player - I'm only going to want to listen to a subset of my whole MP3 library. Why would I need 5,000 songs to choose from? I plan better than that.

13. We have different playlists on our iPod

Play anything we like whenever we like. I could tell you more but obviously you're not interested. Google iTrip sometime.

12. Not quite
He was referring to the guy who produced U2's first, second, third, and fourteenth albums, I think.
