I feel like I am turning into a scrooge about the holidays.
I am pretty bah humbug about Halloween this year. Last year was depressing so that is the problem. Part of the deal is that I am way too worried about election day. But, I always hated Valentines Day. I am pretty bah humbug about Halloween. I am even not feeling very good about Christmas. I wonder what is happening to me.

1. Welcome to the club
I was never in to this Halloween stuff. Yes, the little ones are cute, but it is just a goofy "holiday".

3. I felt that way in 1997.
I lost my dear dad to cancer in February 1997. 1997 was a bad year in other ways too. My first marriage broke-up and I had a health scare. I couldn't get excited about any of the holidays that year even T-giving, which is my favorite holiday. Food, family and - in my family at least the men do the cooking on T-giving - a true day of rest and I couldn't have cared less. My friend convinced me to take part in a program answering Dear Santa letters from children in poor families. It was the only thing that saved any holiday from that entire year. I learned from that experience that no matter how bad I feel there are others who are faring far worse. In memory of my dad, I've kept up with the Dear Santa program ever since 1997.

4. I Would Guess That You Are Very Alone and /or Lonely
Holidays are meant to be shared with congenial companions--more than just acquaintances. Maybe the saintly can get joy with a bunch of strangers, but I find the best times are with a friend or two, holiday or any day.
