Freepers beg Jesus for a Bush win

Heavenly Father, you are the author of the universe, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Please Father, do not remove your hand of mercy from this great country America. Move your people to action this Tuesday. Make our will comport with Your will. Strengthen those who are weak, that they may make the right choice. Do not abandon your faithful ones, Lord. Let truth and justice prevail. Amen.

5. Lord God hear my prayer. You said if ye believe in me and my word abide in you ye shall ask what ye will and it shall be done. Lord God I ask that you let George W. Bush win the electoral collage and the election on Tuesday. In Christ name I pray. Amen

8. Great prayer. One I've been praying over and over again (or at least similar). I've been tempted to pray that Bush wins, but I know better. Everything is under control. And that trumps all polls.

19. I have to admit that I have ask specifically that GW would win. But God's will must be done. ... My son tonight said grace for the meal and at the end he asked that President Bush would still be our President.

23. Said a Rosary (which I haven't done for a long time, unfortunately) for President Bush. A sense of calmness and peace came over me.

33. Dear Lord, In the Old Testament, the people asked for a king until you gave them one even though you did not desire that the people have one.
The people of Isreal went through many kings both good and bad. The heart of the king was determined by the hearts of the people. Lord, we know that there are wicked, sinful people here in America that desire to attack your Word that you have given to us. We ask that you would bind these people on Tuesday from affecting the outcome of the election.

We thank you Lord for the man of God that you provided to us these last four years. In Romans it tells us that our leaders are to act as ministers of God. We ask your guidance and protection on this humble servant, George W. Bush.

May you grant us his leadership for another four years. My your face continue to shine upon him as long as he turns his face towards you. May he continue to find his wisdom despite the personal attacks in your Word to him.

In the holy name of Jesus we pray,

Amen.

34. I used to pray that God's will would be done regarding this election. Then it occurred to me that God's will is evident regarding abortion and many other contrasts between the two candidates. Now I pray that Dubya will win by as large a margin as possible. It may sound obvious, but don't just fast and pray. Put some legs on your prayer and vote, and do whatever you can to see to it that the president's supporters vote.

35. LORD, please watch over President Bush and his family. Protect them, guide them and bless them. Everything else is secondary.

39. Fasted one meal today and will do so tomorrow.
Fervent prayers that our nation and civilization be the first concern of our Lord.

40. Father, Your Word says 'If My people who are called by my Name will humble themselves and pray and seek My Face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.' I bow with the rest of Your Children asking You to forgive us, The Church, for being so weak and so silent for so long and allowing all the wickedness we face today to get such a foothold in our society. We offer up no excuses Father, as we all know Your Word and we are without excuse for not standing up for Your ways. You directed us to preach Your Word to all the world and yet many of us have not even witnessed to our neighbors. We, the Bride of Christ, are far from spotless and without wrinkle but we come to You, our Father and ask that You would, by Your power and might, raise us up once again to stand as a light on a hill. We do not deserve what we ask of You, but we come trusting in Your Love and Mercy. This land we call America was built on Your Word and You have Blessed America so much and yet we have failed You. Forgive us Father and change our hearts and minds that we may once again live soley for You. We ask You,Father, to grant us another 4 years under our President Bush and that in that 4 years and under his leadership, this nation may see a revival and become the America that will Bless You. We ask it all in the Name of Jesus. Amen

9. Jesus isn't making our decisions for us.
We have free will. Otherwise, what would the point be??

4. Okay, that is just terrifying.
No joke. If people actually think like that about bush, even if Kerry wins on Tuesday, there is no hope.

Fine with me; that means Kerry can win the Electoral college, and perhaps improve our education system as well.

16. Victimhood is the entire crutch
of right-wing politics and right-wing religion.

If Kerry wins, it will only be another sign of the victimhood of the "righteous."

There is little difference between the political victimhood that Rush Limbaugh preaches every day and the religious victimhood that the right-wing religicos preach everyday.

See Mel Gibson's movie or listen to am radio. Same point. If "they" loose this election it will only reinforce their convictions.

17. Dear Freepers, G-d here.
I'm awarding the election the candidate with the most morals, honesty and good intentions, as it is more likely they have read my latest novel - in bookstores now, called, 'The Bible' (also available in audiobook) but I digress, where was I, oh yes, morals, thats right, your boy, he ain't got none, so I guess y'all are screwed, but feel free to have a fast anyway. Save the food for those that need it.
Cheers
Big G.

18. God doesn't play politics
and these pious, self-rightious morans haven't "cornered the market" on religion. If anything they've done more to drive people AWAY from the church than bring 'em in. And for that alone, they're doomed.

Anytime I read something like that, I immediately think of Matthew 6, Verses 5 and 6:

"And whenever you pray, do not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, so that they may be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward.

But whenever you pray, go to your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

24. The last time I prayed for an election victory was in 1994
That didn't work out so well. That was a long night, so I've never prayed for an electoral outcome again.

25. This is ugggly
These people have no clue... As a liberal Christian I find most of these prayers very offensive. One can't help but hope for a particular outcome, but to actually pray for it is a waste of time, IMO. Freepers need to get a clue or two. Just because they claim to be God's people, doesn't mean that they get to boss him around.

Memo to Freepers: God is not your personal vending machine!!! What is it going to take for you to get that through your skulls??

For those on this site and elsewhere who believe in prayer... If you are going to pray for the election, then pray for it to be FAIR and for the true victor to assume office (i.e., for fraud attempts to be thwarted). I believe we will win if the election is fair, and there is no way that the "will of God" could be for fraud to take place. I must admit that I don't pray as much as these freepers claim to... I think actions would speak louder than words... God helps those who help themselves, etc.... but I have been praying for the outcome of this election to reflect the will of the people, and for Senator (hopefully President-elect in 48-52 hours) Kerry to be blessed. It's always OK to ask for a good guy to be blessed... :)
