Mine is Mel Gibson. I've loved everything he's done as an actor. It kills me that he's such a political idiot.

1. Nah... Arnold.
I loved that he didn't mind looking goofy in movies. Now it's all ruined.

And it turned out being (R) was the LEAST of his problems! Major league a-hole, as * would say!

He's got his pal Orin Hatch working right now on the constitutional amendment that would allow for it.

Watch out for Arnold -- he is charging, and hard.

Statutory rape aside, I was a huge Cheers and Frasier fan.

As far as Cheers goes, it's ironic that the more liberal characters of Diane and Frasier are Republicans in real life, while the more conservative Sam and Woody are actually huge liberals.

Shelley Long was on (I believe) Maher's show more than a year ago, and kept babbling how great * was and that Fox News was the only reliable news source in the nation.

It figures. I mean, if you're that dumb to leave a popular sitcom during the height of its popularity, you're dumb enough to vote for Bush.

than the characters they portray. I was shocked when I heard about Kelsey Grammer too, although, given his history of alchohol and coke abuse, i guess I found it a bit more understandable.

The fact is that I really love both of those actors and their work on television.

I really need to accept that actors, in large part, are not particularly intelligent or thoughtful although they frequently portray characters who are.

I need to be able to separate my appreciation for someones artistic work from my feelings about their politics.

It's just sad that so many people elevate actors to godlike status, and give so much regard to their opinions, despite the fact that so many of them are ignorant, self absorbed, shallow, neurotic people who's opinions are probably worth less than the average person's.

I do admit some guilt of my own. I was thrilled when Ted Danson came out in support of Wes Clark, however, I had already made up my own mind and was not swayed by his opinion, merely appreciated it.

I'm up too late, and am rambling.:)

Whenever I learn that a celeb, friend or family member can honestly support *, it is an instant turn-off. I’ve more or less told my immediate family to FO because their president hates me with his proposed amendment to the Constitution banning gay marriage. I haven’t heard a peep out of them ever sense. I can only assume that they hate me, too.

The irony about it is that issue should be the least of it. I was very outspoken against this unprovoked war and invasion of Iraq. I was rebuked by them, but I knew in my gut that I was right about it. I think they know it, too, but they are too fundi to accept it. We’re just another undocumented casualty of *’s Iraq War. We might as well be dead. I’ve been through the grieving process as though we really are. God bless MF America.

In truth, a President Kerry will not bring them back to me. He will keep me in this country. Yet another term of * will drive me even further away.

that said Mandy Moore was a republican. I think Sandler might just not be a democrat or a liberal and that's enough for some people to say that he's a republican. We know his fellow independant-type friend Rob Shneider supports Kerry over Bush.

She is an outspoken advocate for Planned Parenthood and a supporter of gay marriage. The only reason people think she is is because she appeared on some "Babes of the GOP" list. The list never gave any reasons why they thought of her as a Repub, whereas they could everyone else on the list.

106. Are You Sure That Wasn't Emma Caulfield?
She was an outspoken supporter of Elizabeth Dole and says she keeps her Republican side to herself so she can still get work in Hollywood.
I believe the New Jersey GOP website had her listed.

For those who are not aware of her, Emma was a cast member on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

As for Sarah Michelle Gellar, she hardly ever goes to parties related to "Buffy." She never attended the parties for the "Buffy" message board fans... But every other actor showed up. I was (and still am) a big fan of the show. That might explain her absence from the Joss Whedon/Kerry party. Plus, she is probably busy promoting her new movie.

I recently listened to an interview with SMG, and she states she does not want to get involved with politics in public because she feels actors have pull over people.

Plus, she considers the president of Planned Parenthood a role model, and I doubt any conservative would. She personally presented a "Glamour" away to Gloria Feldt. Here are Sarah's exact words:

"Thanks to her leadership and determination, health insurance providers in 21 states, covering more than half of all American women are now required to pay for oral contraceptives. Gloria is a champion for women's rights and an inspiration to millions of young women around the world." (got that from a PP site)

Plus, in the UK version of "Glamour," she was upset that her gay friends could not get married, but her straight friend could get divorced four times.

Sorry to rant about Sarah, but she is my favorite actress. I pretty much keep up on everything she says. :) She might be conservative in some respects, but she definitely seems intelligent and open-minded to me.

But yeah, her husband (Freddie Prinze, Jr) is Republican. You can thank Bill O'Reilly for that. When Prinze was on Jay Leno with O'Reilly, he was told by the man that liberals will take all his money. Prinze pretty much freaked out at that point.

Wingers like to claim him, citing the honors he's accrued for two decades of advocacy and activism on behalf of war vets, but I've never heard anything from him that would indicate he was a Republican (or Democrat or liberal or conservative).

At least, I've read that he supposedly is.

Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 07:23 AM by George W Bush
...I read he was in some film with Joan Allen (can't remember the name) and he was playing some Repug. He was very offended at "editing" that made his character look too villainous and he is supposed to be some sort of "conservative" who thinks there is a "liberal bias."

Besides, why can't a British actor take an interest in our politics? It can ultimately affect them as much as us::nuke:

in union solidarity (SAG).

link:
http://www.hpana.com/news.18285.51.html

Fans who had hoped to hear Harry Potter actor Gary Oldman in Star Wars Episode III will be disappointed to learn that Oldman won't be in the George Lucas film after all.

Previously it had been reported that the actor was in talks to do voice work in the movie, but Oldman's management has stated that he won't break with the Screen Actors Guild and work illegally overseas for Lucas:

Gary Oldman's voice will NOT be heard in the upcoming STAR WARS film. Gary was offered, and agreed to perform in the film, in fact he was excited and looking forward to the work. The snag that made it impossible however is that this film is being made as a non-SAG (Screen Actor's Guild) film. George Lucas and gang agreed to hire Gary Oldman if he in fact would become a union buster, and perform work illegally overseas. As a resident of America, and also a member of SAG, out of respect and solidarity with the other members, he could not and would not consider violating his union's rules.

The Screen Actors Guild is a union that seeks to ensure proper compensation, benefits and working conditions for actors in movies, television and commercials. Its "Global Rule One", introduced in 2002, expands the union's reach internationally, as more and more productions leave the United States. The rule forbids SAG members to work on non-SAG films.

74. I know an actor is not the character they play, but.....
I never trusted O'Connell. She liked to play the free, independant woman, but I suspected she'd revert to her upperclass background in the end.

One thing about Northern Exposure--I found most of the characters irritating about 75% of the time (more for some). Joel was an abrasive, selfish snob, Marilyn was stolid & slow, Chris was a space case, Shelley was a dingbat, Maurice was a materialistic pig, etc. But, about the time I was ready to give up & turn off the TV in disgust at the whole overly whimsical crew--they'd redeem themselves. Joel would smile & admit he had issues, Marilyn would say something wise, Chris would read something from one of my favorite authors, Shelley would remind everybody that she was just young--& even Maurice would show he had a heart.

Some show....

82. Curt Schilling (Red Sox pitcher)
I was a huge fan of Schilling ever since he came to play for the Red Sox, and so I was very disappointed to hear him voice support for Bush last week. I still think he's a great pitcher, but the enthusiasm I had just isn't there any more. I knew Schilling was religious but I had heard he was of the religious kind that is opposed to war and killing (i.e. of the sort Bush has launched against the world). Sadly, this was not the case. I just don't understand how Christians can support a man who has murdered tens of thousands of innocents.

It's been a tenet of mine for a long time that Republicans are either dumb, deluded or greedy. We know Schilling's not dumb, so he's either deluded or greedy, and it's a rude awakening after all he did for the Red Sox this year.
