When I was a kid, if you were over the age of 13 and trick or treating... |
|
you were immediately tagged a complete loser. For some reason there was this unwritten rule, trick or treating was for kids, not teenagers. This was back in the 70's, anyone else have a "rule" like that in their neighborhood?

2. My mother used to go nuts when older kids would show up |

- after they left of course, she was always polite. It just wasn't supposed to be done after about the 7th grade, generally considered socially unacceptable.

4. Trick or Treating is for little kids - not teenagers. |
|
Teenagers should be doing other things on Halloween, like egging and toilet papering houses, lighting bags a dog poop on fire.
Trick or treating... what are they thinking?

5. The town I grew up in had an unofficial teenage tradition for Halloween |
|
October 30th was known as 'Damage Night.' It was a night for mischief and vandalism. Teenagers ruled this night. It got really bad. Businesses would need to hire security guards for the night. This was a town of about 20,000.

7. I did it when I was 17... |

Some of the people handing candy to us were younger high school kids. Most people liked it because we had elaborate costumes and a good sense of Halloween spirit. I think it's pretty common to be older and still do it!

8. I have no problem with the tweenies.... |
|
(in between kids and "adults") since they usually come in a group, I just have them sing me a song like Mary Had a Little Lamb in order to get their goodies.
I get a lot of giggles and barely audible songs, but we all enjoy it. Never had any who wouldn't sing for me.

12 was the last year you could trick or treat, after you turned 13 you went out and commited petty acts of vandelism. Egging cars and houses and toilet papering houses and soaping car windows, was what the teenagers where doing or you went to a party. The most fun i ever had was when i was 16 we all went to my friend's house, got in costume and scared the little trick or treaters when they came to the house, it was a blast to hear those little kids scream and watch them run.
