His wife was a virgin. Then she had a son that wasn't his.

2. Nah, Joe kicked ass.
Seriously. His wife wouldn't give him any, AND he had to raise someone else's kid. Talk about your martyrdom.

Wasn't he the one who popularized the whole evangelical bent of the Catholic (and decendent) churches?

Would that he hadn't.

Stigmata just doesn't stack up to a guy like Saint Olaf, who Christianized the Norwegians.

24. Paul, if he were alive today, I hate to say it, but he would be
a freeper.

He was a extremist zealot who followed every trendy idea that came his way, and I think had he been born, say in the 40's he would have been 60's CIA in SE Asia, central America in the 80's and deeply involved in information mining now at a high level.

His new religion would be corporatism and he would be a high priest in that.

When you do the footwork to make a religion take off, then you can criticize.

31. Vatican II Dumpees
I still feel bad for all those saints who got dumped after Vatican II. I was in second grade, had just learn all their names and SOMEBODY decides they're not saints anymore? How must they feel, going along, being a saint, and then having their title stripped? It was then I decided the pope was mean.
