What concerts did you miss this summer?
just out of curiosity, and because there is so much music stuff on the board, obviously music plays an important part in peoples lives, what concerts did you miss this summer, the important ones that you regret? Due to lack of funds, time or whatever.

For me, it was the Blasters (who canceled) and Elivs Costello (couldn't get the money together).

But, a few years ago, I was lucky enough to see Johnny Cash (and June and the Carter Family!) and I remember I really went through mass gyrations to go as far as getting time off work and getting the bucks together.

Forgive me I don't respond back to this thread immediately, I am about ready to leave for a hike ({on MT Rainier), but there are so many interesting people of this board, I am just curious what music you missed that you really wish you hadn't.

1. Iron Maiden
Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 01:22 PM by durutti
They were playing with Motorhead and Dio. And here's the kicker: one of my friends had an extra ticket and called me to see if I wanted to go, but I wasn't home.

I missed Jethro Tull and Jefferson Starship, too.

Oh, and They Might Be Giants.

3. Elvis Costello
at the Calgary Folk Music Festival. My whole crew was planning on taking a road trip up there and seeing the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology in Drumheller and then taking a day at the CFMF, and seeing Elvis Costello. Unfortunately, we were overruled by time constraints and didn't do any of it :-(

9. Joe Jackson--original "Look Sharp" lineup.
Damn. only saw Joe Jackson once before; opening for The Who (of all people) in Buffalo around 1980. I've always wanted to see him in a more intimate, less imbicile-saturated venue, but we couldn't find the time (or the $$$, for that matter)

10. Summer Sanitorium Tour
My husband wanted to ditch our family picture for my grandparent's fifteeth anniversary for that concert. Our friend wanted us to go with him. It turned out that our friend didn't go anyway because he had to spend the money on new tires instead.
