For mental therapy, I'll spend the next couple of days cooking. |
|
Today I cooked a big pot of okra, chicken, and sausage gumbo. It smells soooo good! I used 4 pounds of chicken and two pounds of Dozier's garlic/pork sausage (from Fulshear, Tx). I made nearly 2 gals, so I'll freeze a lot for winter. Of course, I'll have gumbo and rice with a good tossed salad tonight.
Tomorrow I'll slow cook a Boston butt on the wood cooker with a hickory fire in the box. Once the pork cools, I'll pull it. I'll probably give the pulled pork to several mountain neighbors.
Wednesday, I'll probably do a big pot of split pea soup. I've got a bone from a smoked ham that will be perfect for split pea soup.

but I'm worried I might mess something up in my frazzled state.
This post made me want to search the archives for the recipe threads.

You DEFINITELY need to get down to the Triangle area sometime - maybe we can have a Carolinas gathering this fall/winter. Allen & Son beckons.

4. I'm starting the drinking therapy. |

At about7:05 pm EST tomorrow. After the day I had today (with political operatives), I'd start right now, but I have to work a polling place tomorrow.
