In a VERY bad mood, help me???
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 09:02 PM by Moonbeam_Starlight
Earlier, I was feeling very confident and strangely calm. Took a nice restful nap.

Woke up in a horrid mood. Only gotten worse.

I still feel optimistic, but I guess everything and anything from a right-winger's mouth, even reading second-hand accounts of it on DU, just irritates the SHIT out of me right now.

Not only that, but Mr. Moon has taken to listening to rightwing talk radio, to keep informed of what they are saying and I can't explain why but I just think we are all better off not listening to ANY of them at all. Don't get me wrong, Mr. is a die-hard Dem, I don't know, it just bothers me to think of him listening to that evil stupid crap.

I found out my FAVORITE uncle in the whole world, the big environmentalist and jazz afficianado, bisexual and a heart as big as Montana is not only voting for *, but is GOING TO HIS APPEARANCE AT SMU TONIGHT. Why? His new wife, who is a repuke. My heart. Broken. I nearly started crying. HE IS A HUGE LIBERAL!!! WHY??????

I just got off the phone with the campaign manager for the woman running for state house here. He is feeling confident, good. We have peeled off republican voters from the incumbent. I am going to poll greet in the morning then grab and drag from 4 to 7 in the evening.

I just called four people to ask if they can help and they all couldn't. My best friend has a boyfriend for the first time in EIGHT years so guess where her attention is? I love her to death, but STARTING A NEW RELATIONSHIP RIGHT BEFORE THIS ELECTION??? He was ALL she could talk about!!!

How dare she find happiness when we have an election to win! ;)

Ok just writing this all out has put me in a better mood. That and I just ate about 500 Tootsie Rolls. God help me.

You DUers are so smart and funny and wonderful. Talk me off this ledge. My best friend told me to keep taking deep breaths and thinking happy thoughts. Even Mr. Moonbeam who is normally calmer than shit about everything, is pacing and snippety right now.

3. And I'll add a couple of stories
I went to the grocery store this evening and overheard two of the meat market guys talking:

Meat Market Guy #1: "I just think the world would be a better place with a different president."

Meat Market Guy #2: "I agree."

I was acting like I wasn't eavesdropping and accidentally ran into a display of mac and cheese boxes. They ran over to help me pick them up and I fessed up and said I agree, too. We had a good laugh.

Then the checkout lady told me she already voted and when I mentioned I am working for a lady running for state house, she said her name and whipped out some of her push cards from under her cash register. She whispered to me "I give them to people I think will vote for her. I'm risking my job, but I think it's worth it."

My God.

Always helps me.

Do you have any wine, weed or horse tranquilizers ( only kidding about the last two)?:)

You can control your own thoughts Moonbeam. You are an Adventurer and a Survivor and a Leader. Just go run yourself a bubble bath, tune out all the election chatter and put on some soothing music. Then come back and hang out in the Lounge...

11. You know what?
I have often wondered how much living in a slightly freeperish place affects one's state of mind and you just confirmed it.

I growl at the few bush signs I see.

Thanks darling, you are priceless. Yes my best friend definitely deserves this, bless her heart. She's been looking and not finding and lonely for soooooo long and I didn't understand it because she totally rocks. Oddly, about six months ago, she couldn't STAND this guy. Griped about him constantly. Now, they are falling for each other.

14. Aw sweetie
you just made me sadder! Hey my uncle (not the one I wrote about in the original post) didn't find true love and get married until he was 48 years old!!!!! But when he did find her, it was absolutely heaven and they fell head over heels in love with each other and he told me he was resigned to being alone and then BLAM, there she was. Out of the fucking blue.

13. Firstly - THANK YOU for sharing your stories on DU.
Edited on Mon Nov-01-04 09:17 PM by nemdaille
I used one with a * leaning co-worker to explain about what this administration has done to the economy (your neighbors who defaced your sign as a "joke") - I told her about them losing their jobs...the whole story.

Now, go view this as many times as it takes to having you grinning ear to ear http://www.needlenose.com/win04/vote2.htm

I for one, am amazed at the fortitude your husband is showing by sitting through all that right-wing hyperbole. Opposition research damned near caused me an ulcer. Eck! Eck! Just Eck! But it's needed and it will be needed in the days to come - talking points, pointing out lies and hypocrisy, blah, blah.

And finally, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for coming here to DU and sharing great stories and your time and especially THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for all the hard work you're doing on all our behalf to take our country back.

Can I interest you in some chocolate ice cream to go with the Tootsie Rolls?

I am about to be on chocolate overload. Detox! I am going to have to eat nothing but organic whole foods for about three months after this election just to detox.

You are so welcome, hey I am glad to hear one of my stories helped! I always feel slightly vain posting them, glad to know you like them!!!

I LOVE that video clip, I have watched it umpteen times. Now I am off to watch Mosh some more, because damn I love that song.

19. HOW do you do it Rowdy???
How? I don't know how he does. He told me he listens to it every day, up to a couple of hours a day.

Ug. I would rather run hot piano wire through my eyeballs. But he's a calm guy (normally----I think the child will have to go to bed early tonight, poor thing, I can hear him out there getting snappy with her) and I guess people like you and him can take it. I can't.

Apologize in advance, that's a good idea. I think me and Mr. should do that for each other tonight, just in case. He doesn't have much patience with overly emotional displays and I have a feeling he's going to see a lot of it tomorrow night, either way.

28. When Limbaugh is upset, he get mad and frustrated and thats when he's
REALLY funny. He makes totally baseless charges about how panicked Democrats are when we're leading, and blatently misrepresents every word uttered. His drones hang onto his every word, and I just laugh. Believe me, at 50, I can spot a bullshitting liar in a heartbeat.

I can't listen as long as your husband can anymore, though. Mostly when I'm going to the grocery etc. or shopping.

I have more tolerance for watching and listening to bush than any Dem I know. For the same reasons you gave about rush--bush is just so pathetically inept and there's always the chance of implosion so it's entertaining to me. In a sick way.

On edit: YOU'RE 50???? I thought you were in your 30s for some reason! LOL!

I think young and don't have kids. Basically, I'm still waiting to grow up (my partner's waiting for this to happen too!)

I'm your opposite. I CANNOT stomach watching Bush. Only saw one Bush speech in 4 years, the first one after 9/11.

26. Errrr umm
Well, my water pump gave out on my car on the way to the Edwards/Jimmy Buffet rally in Pompano Beach tonight. But telling you such things probably won't cheer you up, so...

I think we are all feeling a bit snippety right now. I've waited FOUR years for tomorrow and just the knowledge that Bush will do anything to keep power scares me.

I want tomorrow night to be over with. I want this to be over with. I want a new president who doesn't blow stuff and people up for fun. And I'm feeling like I'm waiting for another hurricane. Either something wonderful will happen or something terrible will happen. Either way, I took Wednesday off. There is no way that I can see I will be able to actually do my job. I will either be ecstatic and unable to concentrate or I will be suicidal. Either way doesn't make for a great day at work.

I happen to believe that I will be ecstatic and partying, but Bush is a conniving bastard. If Kerry isn't our president, it's not going to be because of anything Kerry did or didn't do. It will be because Bush has more experience at screwing the people in this county out of their rights.

Maybe knowing that you are not alone will help cheer you up some. It does me!! :grouphug:

29. It actually
does feel good to know so many other people who feel the same way.

I did not have DU or anything on line really in 2000. And I felt very alone, despite the fact that I knew, intellectually, that every Gore voter felt the same. But I didn't have any communication with those people.

This time, I have other Democrats around me, both in person and on here and believe me, that IS a big help and a huge comfort!

Thanks! Oh and I am sorry about your car! Is it fixed now?

33. I hear ya!!
In 2000, I didn't know about DU either and, though I had my husband, I felt pretty alone. We did attend a lot of protests, but it wasn't the same sort of comfort I was looking for. I just felt robbed and there was no way to get that feeling to go away.

We ordered the water pump, but don't plan on trying to get it fixed tonight. Too many other things to do and if there is no time tomorrow, we can always walk to the polls and deal with it on Wednesday.

/hugs to all

The BBC don't lie like CNN do. They don't tell as much truth as they used to, but you take what you can get.
And I worked up a bit of a glow on the wheel tonight, so I don't feel like such a slug from all the chockies *I* ate.....
