Guess the song
"All over the news spread fast
They're dirty, they're filthy
They ain't gonna last!

This is Joe Public speaking
I'm controlled in the body, controlled in the mind"

6. Well, I DID Google it. BUT IN MY DEFENSE
I love The Clash, had that album, and would not have replied if I'd never heard of the author.

Saw them in Edmonton on the Know Your Rights Tour in 1982, and Sandinista! is their most underrated album.

Maybe I'm getting old (pushing 40) but where are all the bands that matter these days???

Sorry, DON'T get me started on eminem. Just DON'T.

Cheers!

12. Is it Joe? When, where?
I was never totally sure who that was. Avatars can be too damn tiny sometimes.

14. Yeah, it's Joe. UofPenn Ice Arena - August of 1982 -

15. You did not! How could you???
I was so pissed off when they announced that. So very un-punk! (Now of course there are Jaguar ads with "London Calling"...*sigh*)

I think that photo must've been taken the same month that I saw them. Is there a mohawk under that cap?

16. But of course their is a mohawk under that cap...
Actually, not to rub salt in your wounds, but I met Joe both nights they were in Philadelphia and twice more when they opened for the Who (phila and new york). Oh and again in 1983. Joe took my red star Clash pin after that show - I got his lighter!

Ray Jordon kept asking us if we wanted to meet the band - we kept telling him "no," but he insisted! :P

For the record, Paul Simonon is the NICEST man I have ever met - totally lovely and unpretentious. Okay, that's my story...I don't say it often because I feel like a name-dropper.

19. Did he say anything about how wonderful Edmonton was?
Some dork was playing with a huge plank at front row, and they stopped mid-song. "Put that away right now or I'll brain ya," said Joe.

Great story, good for you. I have a few names I could drop thanks to a few years working for HMV, but I'll save those for another post. :)

20. Like I said, I hate to do it, but I was asked...
Joe once stood on my neighbor's hand - of course, she's from the Westway originally and got to see him when they were playing little clubs - He looked at her and said, "you're too young to be here." She was underage at the time, too.
