So when is Bush going to have the uniform style altered to look sharp and eye-catchy? As he's propagating a fascist dictatorship with his corporate buddies, they've got to update the military threads for the times! We are the master country, you know!

5. Bush has been in a lot of poses...
And they're all contrived. The most pukeworthy one is where his head is in the middle of the seal of the US so it looks like a halo around his head... :puke: What an arrogant little fart, he is...

But the uplifted arm Nazi stance is quite an often used pose. Then look at all the acts Bushbastard* has done and compare that to Hitler in the 1930s and the parallels are downright frightening.

2. I got in trouble with my husband (who is a very liberal German) because
I said that the Nazis really had an eye for design: their symbol, flags, buildings, and uniforms (especially the SS uniforms) really fulfilled their role to inspire awe (sounds familiar?) and fear.

He said that I sounded like most women who fall for a uniform... which was never the case. (He hates the Nazi ideas and the fact that it happened in his country, so he is forgiven).

4. My mom has these leather gloves
They always made me think of the evil commandant of the camp who was the epitome of all evil, it seemed to me. I'd take em and pull em on and it so made me think of this movie we saw in seventh grade, "Escape from Sobibor", where they, well, escape from Sobibor.

Man, that dude was creepy. :scared:

8. Nazis were well dressed because
they had this HUGE gay membership early on. Really. Those came up with the leather boots and straps all over the place.

Those guys got purged rather brutally but the whole NAZI thing was repressed sexuality.

9. Sharp, flashy uniforms are a part of the modus operandi of Fascism.
Fascism is designed to appeal to the emotions of the masses, and does so to with parades, rallies, excessive displays of the flag, and other accoutrements of 'patriotism', fancy uniforms that foster a desire to wear it and accept the approbation of one's fellow countrymen, patriotic songs, clubs designed to promote a sense of belonging to the dispossessed, dogma intended to promote one group of people over another and make you feel special and part of a greater movement of people 'just like you'.

Another good example is the uniforms worn by the Red Army under Stalin in the '30's. They were drab, shapeless, unappealing, and lacking in such hierarchical distinctions as rank and skill badges. When the Nazis invaded the Soviet Union, and Stalin appealed to the Russians' patriotism to help drive the Germans out, he improved their uniforms by introducing colorful medals, gold braid, fancy rank insignia, sharply tailored uniforms, shiny boots, and fancy equippage. In addition to the very real motivation the Russians had of ridding their country of the murderous Nazis, the new uniforms gave them a sense of pride they had not had before.

Fancy uniforms are an important factor in military morale.

12. The Nazi's put special emphasis on appearance
It's historical fact that Hitler put a lot of thought into the appearance of his representatives. The uniforms were specifially designed to be crisp, modern, and attractive, and to appeal to the people of Germany. Most of his major public military displays and speeches were also designed and choreographed by members of the German movie industry in order to present a specific "image". Hitler is the perfect example of what can happen when people buy into a marketing scheme and never look at the quality of the person underneath.
