My 6-year-old voted for Kerry yesterday
Her school had mock elections. My husband had taken her with him to vote on Saturday and we've been discussing the election with her. He had told her that no one can tell you who to vote for and no one has to know who you vote for, you can keep it private.

Yesterday she came out of school and said that she had voted. I told her that was great and asked who she had voted for. At that time, she told me she was keeping it a secret. When we were in the van, she told me she voted for Kerry ... because she liked his name! LOL! Although she did go on to reveal that she knew much about his life, obviously not his politics. She also told me that some kids in her class (this is FIRST grade, folks!) told her that Kerry lied on T.V. and that he hunts (as though it's a bad thing). She said, "So!!" and voted for him anyways!

I couldn't be more proud!! My husband is really adament that we don't talk to her too much about how we feel about politics (we're into teaching the kids to make informed decisions for themselves), so I really haven't talked to her about how we feel about the candidates, just about the process. But I did clarify to her that Bush hunts as well as lies too. She said, "MAN! I should tell those kids that!!!" LOL, I'm just so proud that she could listen to people telling her one thing and still stick to her guns ... even at 6-years-old!!

:bounce: :hi:
