What's a good inexpensive all in one Printer?
Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 05:57 PM by corarose
I can't spend over $150.00 bucks on a printer and they have several models on sale this week at the computer stores.

Anyone have any suggestions on what the best one is to purchase. The lexmark is going to $79.00, brother is $129.00 and I am not sure which one is the better one.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

1. Check The Price Of Ink Cartridges
If the specs are about the same then check the prices of the ink cartridges. I've heard Lexmark charges as much as they can get away with.

3. Check the AVAILABILITY of the print cartriges. If they aren't
readily availble, you're wasting your money no matter what you buy. Lexmark is more well known than brother. Depends on what you want to do with the print. Just print text files - go to Sam's and see what they have. If you want quality, you have to pay. I have an HP and it's great. I do a lot of graphics print with my candy wrapper business. When I print pictures, they look like pictures. The printer was $350.

4. Is that an HP PSC 2210 4 in 1?
They have a refurbished one at Office Max for $120.00 and I was wondering if that's a good deal or not.

6. I don't think that I want a Lexmark
The cartridges are $40.00 dollars in my area and they don't last very long.
I will look at the Cannons and other brands.

10. I Don't Like Lexmark Anyway
Had to install some equipment in their Cincinnatti Distribution Facility and I've never met a bigger bunch of pricks in my life.

Canon is good; I'm using two now; the S900 and my the portable i70 to carry with my Notebook.

7. I just bought a great one for $99!

Just finished installing it this morning, in fact. It's an HP psc 1200 (color printer, copier and flatbed scanner). It's pretty compact and lightweight (and it's boxy, instead of the more strange rounded ones that seem to be everywhere--I find it asthetically pleasing), is up to the generally great HP quality, and the ink cartridges won't cost a small fortune to replace.

Whatever you buy, keep in mind you'll probably have to buy a separate cable for it (they're not including them very much anymore), so count on spending about $20 in addition to the price of the printer.

I got it at Best Buy, and am really pleased with it.

on edit: Here's a link to the printer.

8. Personally I Would Stay Away From...
all-in-one printers. You probably already have a printer and a modem. If that's the case, pick up a nice scanner for 100 bucks.

9. My Cat put a Q-Tip in my printer and it's broken now
I haven't had a fax and a scanner since everything was stolen out of my apt. and that's why I am thinking about an All In One instead of a printer.

11. Epson
Good working, good looking bubble jet color; the ink cartridges last a long time, even if you don't use it much, and there's even good drivers for Linux.

On sale 20% for $119 a few months ago - it works great. The quality is fantastic for such an inexpensive printer, and it's very fast. I highly recommend it.
