South Beach diet stories wanted
I am thinking of beginning the South Beach Diet after the Jewish High Holidays (hey I want to eat the noodle kugel and matzah ball soup..that stuff is forbidden on the SBD).

Are there any South Beach Dieters on DU? My mom is on it and she loves it.

2. From what I understand the basics of the SBD are
low carbohydrates and lots of veggies. I get the feeling it is based on the Atkins program but not as severe. Carbs are reintroduced with the SBD earlier than under Atkins.

There is a two week induction period similar to Atkins.

What my mom seems to like about it is that she does not feel deprived. She seems to be eating in a more healthful way than ever before. She has a lot of salads and veggies. One meal we had when I was visiting her was grilled salmon, steamed brocolli and steamed asparagus. That was followed by yogurt with blueberries added.

All in all it was delicious.

3. Just looked it up after I read that Clinton
was on it. Looks like a modified Atkins - especially at the beginning.

Cut out sugar and potatoes, pasta, bread etc. at the beginning for a couple of weeks and add in later sparingly with your favorites.

Looks what I did when I didn't want to go full atkins all the time - worked for me - 23pounds in 4-6 months. My sis has lost 50 and my hairdresser's son lost 130.

Much easier than any other diet plan, but I don't think you need a book to do it - Good luck.

As with any successful plan - do not deny yourself favorite foods on special occasions - just don't make every day "special.

5. Don't give up
when I "stalled" - I had pizza - went back on it and something finally "kicked in" and things started to go fine.
