Is anyone else starting to get over it already???
I am starting to move out of the "depression" state ALREADY I think. This is nutz. I expected to be here for weeks at least, and then get out of politics/news for months if not years, but I'm already starting to check "Latest" again and wonder what's going on.

Hell, I might even watch Democracy Now! tomorrow.

Either I'm a hopeless addict, or my spirit is already returning. It seems unnatural.

2. I still feel pretty much the same way I felt after 9-11 ...
not to the same degree, but pretty damn close. I've been walking around all day like I want to throw up.

5. I was like that until maybe an hour ago... this is probably just a passing
fancy...

This morning in my heavily democratic area in California, it was kinda like time stopped. Everyone was subdued and quiet. Very eerie.

I had all these plans to change my life and not get involved and not pay attention, and focus only on ME ME ME, but I'm already starting to get back into the fight mode.

I'm not sure which way I hope it goes.

Good luck!

I do still want to puke though.

3. They stole it this time, but I'm over it. With many possibilities for
collapse, it's better to have * in power. 40% of the 54% that voted him in will likely turn on him, and I doubt that unkie Karl can write up a convincing line this time.

7. Yes, now I realize I must be more active.

When Gore "lost" I just went apathetic, not this time.
This is a call to action.

9. I was actually feeling the reverse. Gore was a call to action, this was
a total let down. We were ALL so mobilized, and if we can't win when we're this mobilized, WTF are we going to do?

Still, I guess you gotta keep fighting. It's in the blood.

8. No. Still REALLY REALLY pissed.
I have vowed to direct every charity asking for donations to the nearest church, where my faith-based tax money should be available. My only donations will be to the ACLU, which has its work cut out for it.

I have also decided to forego any major purchases of any kind -- doing my bit to make the economy tank, so Bushbots will maybe, maybe, finally get the fucking picture.

I refuse to watch any sort of commercial TV, and will avoid most TV if at all possible. This is easy -- I hate the goddam thing anyway.

I will be buying euros instead of investing in the stock market.

I will pray that gas goes to 4 bucks a gallon, so all the dumbass freepers at work who live way the fuck out in the country have to pay dearly for their trucks and SUVs.

I will pay absolutely NO attention to the Dem Party until someone, somewhere, gets some balls.

11. I'm flip flopping. :-P
For a while I'm energized and ready to fight to build a new Liberal America... then for a while I'll be completely sad and depressed.

I think it's due to lack of sex. ;)

gives new meaning to the phrase flip flopper. I'm swearing less though, I'll take that as a positive sign.

but I'm starting to feel energized to make more changes. I want to be more involved in local politics, so do my kids (20's). No, I'll never get over this, but I want to use my energy more positively.

19. I've lost bad elections before.
It's kinda like what you go through after you break up with someone. You cry, eat a little chocolate, wallow in your misery until you get up and go out again.

A young Zen monk said to his teacher, "Master, what happens after Enlightenment?"

The old monk said, "Before Enlightenment, chop wood and carry water. After Enlightenment, chop wood and carry water."

So that's what I did when I woke up. I called in sick today at work, and did 3 loads of laundry, went to the cleaners, the bank, got my oil changed, cleaned the house, paid my bills, and finally, took down the Kerry Edwards yard sign, and Brett Wagner for Congress (this district has been GOP for 20 years) yard sign, and took all the rest of the political paraphernalia that's been filling my car and put it all in the garage.

Tomorrow, back to work and the rest of life in a world run by the murderous American Taliban and everyone hates us.

You still have to go on, even when your heart is broken.

20. It feels like a break up for me too, but my last breakup
I healed from incredibly quickly considering it was an over 3 year deal. I kinda feel like that now. I'm upset, but I'm feeling almost ready to get back to work, and don't feel like giving up and being apathetic for a couple years like I thought I would.

Sorry about Brett Wagner. I'm in your district too. 2:1 for dimwit Gallegly. I can't stand it. In 2006 let's get a serious candidate and fund him/her and win this thing once and for all. Wagner was good, but we need a real star.

:)

24. I'm getting over the shock and trauma of it all but
inside I am still very angry and disgusted...I am not going to become apathetic at all though! I'm lucky to live in a county where the vote went 75-25% for Kerry so I have lots of kindred spirits here...

But I've canceled my subscription to the Oregonian, and cannot begin to think of watching the gasbags on tv, which is kinda easy for me because I've been without cable for over a year now and don't really miss it at all!

25. Sort of
Yes, in a way, although I'm constantly thinking about the future of the party. This didn't hit me quite as hard as it might have otherwise, and definitely not as hard as 2000 did, because my local races did really really well.

from state offices to mayor, everything was horrid.

HORRID!

And I live in California.

26. Not quite
Feeling a tad worn..I expected to be more of an emotional wreck, but I'm in more of a "dull ache" state, which I guess is a combination of fatigue, depression, with a tad of disbelief mixed in.

I'm trying to step back and watch things unfold..but I can't fully immerse myself in news right now. Kind of a "I'll read the headlines but can't bring myself to read the full story" attitude.

I'm really trying to tune out all of the re-election news though..just hurts too much.

I've been thinking more about local politics, so I have some fighting spirit left in me.

32. Yeah, I am, actually.
Thanks for asking! :) I think it started when I read one of those mass emails from Howard Dean this evening. I was ignoring all the Kerry ones, but I decided to see what Howard had to say. And it was very uplifting, and pointed out that more people voted against Bush in this election than in any election ever. That felt good. It's just been uphill from there.

I hope everyone else gets feeling better soon!

33. I don't know if "over it" describes it
I don't feel like throwing up any more. That's an improvement. I guess I've gotten to the point where I can accept that it happened but I'm still so disappointed. And it never occurred to me to avoid politics - I never have - so that wasn't an option.

What can you do? You either give up or you drag yourself back to your feet, dust off, and try again. I can't give up.
