My parents just told me that they voted for Bush....
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 09:17 PM by jchild
My parents, both of whom I thought I had persuaded to vote for Kerry, just stopped by to visit my son, who is sick.

Seeing that I was dejected over the election, they told me not to worry, that the nation would "heal" and "unite" soon.

I told them that I didn't want to talk to them about the election, and that when their grandson, about whose health they appeared to be so concerned, was drafted to fight Bush's neverending wars in Iraq and the middle east, then they could really pat themselves on the back. And I told them if the draft materialized, I would hold every Bush voter I know responsible.

They just left in a huff. Unite my ass. Bush has not only divided my nation, he has also divided my family.

We have always had an agreement not to discuss politics, because our family unity was more important than the divisiveness that political discussions beget. I couldn't bite my tongue tonight, though. I got to hear from them that "nothing has really changed" in the nation in their lives, so Bush's election "really doesn't matter." They told me that Kerry doesn't have a stance, and when Bush says something, he means it "even if he's wrong." And, Southerners just aren't going to "vote for anyone from the Northeast." (Uh, what about Bush?!)

Ok, it's been a shitty, physically and mentally exhausting week. Note to Republicans...don't attempt to rub it in. If you want to talk politics with me this week, you will hear my true opinions, and you won't like them. Back fucking off this week, ya hear?

That's kind of a creepy thing to say. They actually believe in the guy.

20. NO. They just think we're all going to march in step behind them.
They've forgotten what we haven't forgotten. They did everything they could to bring Clinton down in his second term. I hope we do the same to Bush.

11. Look at the electoral map...it would be all but the eastern and western...
seaboard states. It isn't just the south with this mentality.

13. Just so you know, great Americans also had their families rent by politics
After the American Revolution, Benjamin Franklin never again spoke to his son who was a Tory (and who left the US for England.)

sign or something telling people not to come near me if they voted for Bsh. I don't trust myself to be civil. In fact, I don't even trust myself not to bash their faces in.

19. My smart Republican friends avoided me.
When I had to pick up my daughter, my smart Republican friends avoided me. Tomorrow I hope I don't have to sit near them at the soccer game. If they bring it up, I will tell them that I hope the CIA gets pissed off enough at Bush to give us the information we need to have him impeached.

Remember when Republicans hated Clinton? Well, it's like that, only about 100 times worse.

22. History Repeats Itself
Don't feel too down. As the Stones sang, "Ti..i..i..ime is on my side.
Yes it is.

I'm confident your parents are old enough to remember one of our past Presidents. Richard M Nixon. The present situation is eerily similar. Nixon was re-elected even though there was the ongoing suspicion and charges of criminality. Spiro T Agnew resigned and was found guilty of a felony. Richard Nixon resigned in disgrace. G.Gordon Liddy was convicted of nine felonies.

There are so many 'land mines' waiting to go off in the face of the Bush crime family. Just last week the FBI started an investigation
of Halliburton and have guaranteed a whistle blower protection.
The CIA operative investigation has just started. The Saudi Arabian Royal Family oil scandal will get bigger as the people of Saudi Arabia soon grow tired of their shenanegans.
If anyone thinks Iraq will improve, they have completely forgotten
the past, and are doomed to repeat it.

Instead of Bush retiring with a large Federal Treasury pension,
and everyone forgetting about him, he and his cronies will be retired in disgrace.
It's a new day in America. So sit back relax and enjoy the show.

23. Life will go on...
Politics are politics, and family is family.

I don’t know you parents, but expect their like my parents. We haven’t discussed it, but I suspect they voted for Bush. They’re guilt of supporting and enabling a corrupt and despicable administration. I believe if they really understood what the Bush administration has done, and plans to do I believe they would be shocked.

I think you need to forgive your parents, for your sake and your sons. Life will go on, but don’t let this break your family apart.

I believe most of those who voted for Bush believed lies, spin, big money ads. I believe most wouldn't have voted for Bush if ALL the facts were out, with all the lies stripped away. If I’m wrong, then I fear we’re doomed.

Hope your son feels better.

They're big Bush supporters. I called my mother this morning and told her to keep them the hell away from my house. If they had come next week I might have been able to handle it, but not this week.

26. Found out my step-sister..
whom I BARELY know voted for Bush, voted exactly like her father, didn't even use 1 of her own braincells.

As much as I disagree with Bush voters, if they put some CONSIDERATION into their vote, I can respect their right to their opinion, as much as it disheartens and even angers me personally. :( But I can have no respect for people who cast their vote flippantly.

My father was telling me that she was saying some asinine things last night..I had to cut him short, telling him that I didn't even want to know!

I didn't have much respect for her intelligence before..this just seals the deal; I don't even want to know what she said because I know that it would make me LIVID.
