I'm keeping my money at home--I am cutting way back on consumption of everything.
I don't care if my clothes are out of style...I am NOT buying any new clothes until the ones I own are threadbare or until my son outgrows the ones he now has.
I will quit eating out. I will shop at the Kroger and buy as little as I need to get by on. I'll take a sandwich to work. No dinners out--I'll cook at home.
I'm going to weatherstrip/proof my house so that I don't have to buy the usual two-thousand-dollars worth of propane we usually use each winter. I'm turning the AC off unless it's so damned hot I have to cut it on.
I am not taking trips anywhere that aren't absolutely necessary.
I am NOT making any more impulse purchases. I am cutting my Directv back to the bare bones minimum package and am doing no more pay-per-views.
I am not going to just boycott Republican businesses...I am changing my lifestyle completely. No new ANYTHING that I don't absolutely have to have.
Anyone else made this decision, too? I will not participate in any way in any kind of a Bush "economic recovery."

1. I've been in the nonconsumer lifestyle for about two years |

It's weird at first, but you get used to it fast.
Also shop at Goodwill and garage sales.

2. Luckily for you, this is by choice. |

Lots of people are having to do this out of necessity. We're all very lucky.

Plus I try to suck as much money out of my repug boss as possible, every last penny I can get my hands on. I'm going to take it real easy on the purchases. The gas consumption is another thing, very soon the prices will go through the roof. $4 this time next year, at least.

I will buy no clothes.
I also heard you can selectively block channels on your cable TV. Since my husband and I are having a disagreement about throwing the TV out (he likes grand prix racing and he pays the bill), I thought I'd block Fox and Sinclair stations and inform the cable company and the stations themselves.
