14. I am with you on this
I did live once with one station. I just could not get anything else in. It was PBS and it really wasn't bad for 3 years.

TCM has become my favorite channel. Nice escape from the harsh glare of reality.

6. PBS
Good kid's stuff.
The only decent TV news- Frontline and Now primarily.
Thoughtful documentaries.
The occasional classic movie.

8. I'd pick PBS for the variety.
BBC News, The NewsHour, Frontline, Nova, American Scientific Frontiers, the comedies and dramas.

12. The UK's CHannel 4....
The best and most intelligene news, great documentaries (along with BBC2), most thought-provoking and experiemental programmes, best comedies, most controversial and liberal, Test Match Cricket.....

And to cap it all off, they've just bought The Simpsons!

17. I second that
BBC1 is crap these days. BBC2 is ok, sometimes. ITV & Channel5 are shite.

19. Yeah, and I forgot to mention Scrapheap Challenge....
without which, Sundays would suck....

:-)

BBC2 is often excellent, but does tend to include a liberal sprinkling of turds in amongst the gems like The Power of Nightmares.

Mind you, Channel4 has Brooky and Big Brother, both of which make me want to chew my own foot off.

Even BBC1 Breakfast news has turned into fucking GMTV, and we don't have the Big Breakfast to counterbalance it any more - at least you knew where you stood with the Big Breakfast.

13. Turner Classic Movies
It's now "LOCKED" on my satellite converter box. I need to take a break... a big break... from news and reality.

TCM is comforting.

But I'd have it off more than on due to my inability to watch/ listen to any advertising without my head blowing up. If I had Free Speech TV, it would more probably be they.
